this is not the same thor that fought her on the bifrost . of course , it’s been years since then , and much has happened in that time — but she always thought he took more after odin , what with the bullheadedness & belief in his own power . clearly , she was incorrect in that impression . “ yes , i’m alive . did you not hear about the giant portal bringing people back from the dead ? ” her tone isn’t gentle , but it also isn’t as sharp as it usually is . it’s almost conversational . “ i wasn’t trying to kill you the first time , ” she adds , “ you threw mjolnir at me . ” arguably , she wasn’t really trying to kill him the second time either , because if hela wants someone dead , they die . she was just pissed about a whole lot of things , and he was fighting her , so she took it out on him .
He can’t help but think of their last meeting- and the man he was then. Some of that is still there- but faced with her, not knowing where they stand, so sick of loosing family and friends... That’s not who he wants to be, right now. “...I did. But it was not for me to...” Thor trails off. He did, a part of him, hope. Maybe, just maybe... that things could be different. But he is rarely so lucky.
“...And you threatened my throne and the safety of every Asgardian. So I think at this point, we can call it even”. There’s even a hint of a joke in his face. “...But that Asgard is no more, and I am King in name only. So... where does that leave us? Because honestly? I’m getting tired of fighting my siblings”.

it had been a shit show, and half of the time he was wondering if the avengers were still even the avengers. but it was nice being able to see an old friend, and clint had hoped that they were doing much better than he currently was even if he was managing alright than some people that he knew. “people are coming back from the dead, you know.” clint says, biting on the inside of their cheek. “it’s been fucking wild man.” he shakes his head, leaning down to pet lucky behind the ears for being such a good dog.
“i’m doing alright,” he eventually says, with a shrug. “how are you?”
People returning from the dead. Indeed. It shakes him to the core. Just as he has come to terms with what has been lost. Who has been lost. They’re coming back. Taking a deep breath, he nods, weakly. “...It... has been rather unnerving”, Thor admits. “Not that I am saying I rather them stay dead. Just that it’s... peculiar”.
But his smile is genuine, when he gives it to Clint. “I am well, thank you. It’s... good to be home”. Earth is home, now. It’s still odd to think of it as such, but. It’s true. “I thought of you often, while I’ve been gone”.

𝐜𝐥𝐞𝐚 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 park bench. in doing so she exhaled a soft breath. her arms crossed over her chest , ❛❛ no no , don’t apologize. ❜❜ the mage assured the god. ❛❛ i get it. my husband , ❜❜ she trailed. ❛❛ gets enough attention. he helped you with the big purple man-child. ❜❜ she’s careful not to name-drop for the sake of her own pride. ❛❛ clea strange. ❜❜ she responded. the surname was a dead giveaway. ❛❛ is it really that much of a
pleasure ? ❜❜ she added with a tease.
Things click into place, as she explains- and introduces herself. Thor smiles, easily, and nods. “Well, then, Clea Strange. It truly is”. And he isn’t just being polite- anyone who can go toe to toe with Strange is worth sitting up and taking notice of. “I’m more ashamed that I didn’t know of you sooner. Your husband neglected to mention you- though, granted it has been 5 years... so perhaps I can forgive him, in the case I was simply... absent”.
It’s mostly teasing, though. Sorcerers and mages occupy a place in Thor’s mind of respect, along with healers- disciplines he himself has no real skill in, and thus he has a vast amount of respect for.
“...May I ask if you are also... magically inclined? Or would that be incredibly rude of me?”

“you know, the whole disguise thing would work a whole lot better if it weren’t so.. simple.” hand gestures to the entirety of his brother, distaste clear on the god’s features. no, not everyone could simply shapeshift to go covertly undercover when necessary, but really was it so difficult to at least make some sort of half-assed attempt here??
loki does, however, somber up after the initial statement, head tilting to the side just so, soft smile directed towards thor. given that they hadn’t seen each other since, well, his death, he hardly wanted to destroy the mood completely. “miss me, brother??” though, holding up a hand before anything else can be said, the god continues on. “before you say something about grieving me again when i didn’t really die, i did die. or, rather, the me that you knew did die.” which was mildly complicated. “i’m not exactly the loki you knew, but i am still loki. a loki. after my death, i was reborn as… this new version. it’s complicated for your mind, i’m sure. all you need to know is it is me. just different.”
There is a very, very long pause, before the reply even registers. It’s almost as if Thor was all too used to hearing Loki’s voice, and looking up only to see no one there- which, may very well be the case, in the handful of years since his brother’s demise.
But look up he does, and there’s so many emotions that roll into his heart, the breath he takes shudders with it- with the threat of a storm that would come in if he were not better trained at keeping it in check. The thud with which the ‘umbrella’ hits the ground is slightly louder than one would think- a result of the enchantment. But he doesn’t care, as a shaking hand reaches out- hesitates, and touches.
“...Loki”, he manages, after a moment, head dipping as he fights back tears. “...You- I...” There aren’t words enough for the entire situation- and Loki is right. He may not understand, and may never will. But it doesn’t matter. “...I care not. You are here, and... there is so much I would say, I imagined saying, if I ever had this chance... yet here I am, bereft of all of it”. He exhales, shakily. “...I... I am sorry. I have missed you. More than I can express”.

“ well , well , well . ” hela strides through the crowded street up to the familiar head of blond hair , ink-black cape materialising on her shoulders as she walks . the crowds part easily , much to her gratification — she’s gotten so tired of having to push her way through , demand attention . “ if it isn’t the mighty thor . ” she rests a hand against the wall beside them , ready to retaliate should he choose violence — which , of course , she would not begrudge him for , given she would react that way if a sibling who had tried to kill her approached without warning . “ what has my favourite half-brother — ” her only half-brother “ — been up to in the last few years ? missed me ? ”
The voice sends his entire body on alert, the grip tightening on the ‘umbrella’- and Thor is desperately hoping that he won’t have to use it. “...Hela”, he manages, but the name feels heavy on his tongue. Another person mourned, thought lost... and yet here she stands. “...You are alive”. It feels too obvious to say, but what words are there? His tongue wets at his lips- how does one explain all she may have missed.
He shakes his head instead, in a quiet dismissal of his thoughts. “Much and more... but you’ll forgive me if I hesitate to just stand here and talk, before I ask the more pressing question”. He looks at his half-sister, and the tiredness of a King lost, of a man who is tired, meets her. “...Are you here to kill me again?”

the great thing about being the lesser known avenger is not being recognized at all. it was rare, even before all the shit happening with the blip. he’s got a coffee cup in hand and lucky’s leash in the other as he walks through central park, one of lucky’s favourite places to be when he stumbles upon an avenger himself. it didn’t take much to recognize him, maybe because clint had been working besides him for so long now he could recognize him from anywhere. he stands right next to him, looking at the bout of people. “you know, if you wanted to blend in you shoud’ve done the whole hat and sunglasses thing,” clint whispers, he’s got a smirk on his face as he looks at the other.
“you’re disguise is shit man.” he turns to finally look at the man, and lucky is wagging his tail sniffing thor before sitting down very politely. “long time no see.”
He’s not seen many of his former teamates since his return to earth- the understanding that so many were still carrying the hurt. But of al the people to stumble upon him in the middle of the park, Thor is more than pleased to be startled by Clint Barton- as his open grin shows.
“My friend!” he says, warmly, reaching out and laying a hand on Clint’s shoulder- not so bold as to force as hug upon him- though the temptation is real. “’Tis good to see you, and your companion”. Lucky gets a hand to sniff, as a matter of formalities. As all good boys should. “...If I wanted to truly hide, I have my ways. But... I find myself tired of hiding. So I am glad to have found you. How are you?”

While Ororo had seen some poor disguises in her day, it would, she thought, be difficult not to recognize the god of thunder himself. If, for nothing else, than that he towered above everybody else milling through the streets. But then, perhaps it could also be said that she had more reason to recognize him. In her time working for SHIELD, she had been somewhat disappointed not to meet this particular Avenger. While of course, if anyone asked, Ororo would declare herself entirely above the seemingly endless games of who would win a fight sometimes played by her students around the school, she had to admit to a professional pride in wondering what would happen in a battle between a thunder god and a weather witch.
“I wouldn’t have thought you needed one of those,” she nodded to the umbrella in his hand, mouth curving into a smile. “Are you expecting rain? I put it as light showers no more than three hours away, myself.” The gentle humor in her words dissipated the air between them as she stepped forward and held out her hand to shake, eyes l, “Ororo Munroe, of the X-Men. Many call me Storm.”
There is much he does not understand, about the storm that lives within his very soul. It is a strong, ancient magic, and that field has never been his strongest. But as the shadow of someone crosses his vision, he feels it lurch inside him- not angry, but... reaching. As if seeking something familiar. It’s... new. Unusual. And he finds himself rubbing at his chest, a little surprised by the sensation. The hair on his arms is standing up.
“...Need? Not really. Want on hand? Always”, he admits. The fact is the ‘umbrella’ is nonfunctional, but he does not like wandering around unarmed. Mjolnir may only move for those worthy, but it’s a comforting weight. A grounding presence. Her knowledge raises his curiosity further, and an eyebrow. But taking her hand, he raises his chin a bit. This is a woman who demands respect- and he is inclined to give it. “...It’s a pleasure to meet you”. The name is... very faintly familiar. Read in a newspaper? Heard on a radio? It’s vague. “Am I wrong to assume, then, with a name like that... we are cut from similar cloth? A fellow stormcaller?” She’s Midgardian, certainly... but something more.

𝐚𝐬 𝐚 𝐛𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧 from space , earth couldn’t compare to the beautiful views she once had the privilege to experience. nevertheless , clea had accepted new york city to be her home far before the appearance of the portals ; only on the basis that it was the only planet that guaranteed her safety. though clea was glad to be in safe hands she couldn’t help but to carry the weight of unwanted survivor’s guilt — so she often found herself looking up at the sky ; day or night , wondering . . . longing for her home.
𝐭𝐨 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 completely caving in she attempted to distract herself with whatever she could. sometimes that meant running into strangers . . . strangers to her , of course. who wasn’t familiar with the god of thunder ? his presence demanded respect like the royal he was. clea huffed ,❛❛ don’t worry i don’t want an autograph. ❜❜ she confessed with a bit of a smirk lingering. ❛❛ i won’t shout your name either. i understand the importance of unwanted attention. ❜❜
The voice has him looking up from his introspection, and at his guest. The furrow of his brow would suggest he’s searching his memory for her face- and not having much luck. Though, given his reputation, being known without any previous contact isn’t too unusual. It’s happened before, when he’s forgotten to use his magic to disguise himself.
“I... am terribly sorry, but... I don’t think I know you”, he offers, politely. “But I do appreciate you keeping things... quiet, as it were. The last thing I need right now is a fuss”. Thor smiles gently. “...To whom do I have the pleasure of meeting?”

The nice thing about a city as large as New York is that people rarely pay attention to others around them. Meaning he can take the time like this, to sit amongst the hustle and bustle, and just... watch.
They’re so resilient, these Midgardians. Time, and time again, have their lives been thrown to chaos... and they survive regardless. They thrive. He is proud to have favored them from the start.
And of course, there are those he called friends... ones he hesitates to see, even now. Grip tight on the ‘umbrella’ in his hand, more than anything, he misses them.
...What would he even say? If he were faced with them? Thor doesn’t know. So much has happened... and yet he feels both changed and exactly the same.
Too caught in his own thoughts, he is unaware, when someone takes the time to look, and recognize him through his simple disguise.

( chris hemsworth. 35 [but it’s complicated]. he/him cis man. ) are you a HERO? something tells me that the smell of rain on the air, honey mead and roasted meat, and hair standing on end make you who you are, THOR ODINSON. with the powers of THUNDER, you’re sure to have a courageous, overconfident personality— and you definitely belong to UNAFFILIATED. were you listening to EYE OF THE STORM by GARRETT GARFIELD on your way to the subway? it suits you. we can’t wait to see what you do next! ( airri. 28. any [she/he/they]. gmt+10.5. )
character name: Thor Odinson
age: 35 physically, but really unknown.
faceclaim: Chris Hemsworth
voiceclaim: See above
skill set: Can create, control, and dissipate storms. Summons thunder and lightning. Flight, super strength, enhanced healing, stamina, and the like. Minor magical abilities (the ability to summon and dissipate his armor at will, summon Mjolnir, conceal his identity to most mortals, etc.).
affiliations: The Avengers
family: Odin (father, deceased), Frigga (mother, deceased), Loki (adopted brother, ??? [assumed deceased])
zodiac: Leo (August 10)
wiki link: [Comic Wiki] | [Movie Wiki]
Please note: while I am pulling from the movies, I am playing a bit with canon, here. Especially pre-movie canon, and obviously what happened post-movies. Otherwise Thor’d be in space, still.
was your character “blipped” out? If so, what did they return to and how is it affecting them? if not, who important to them was blipped out, and what has it felt like after those five years have passed?
While Thor himself wasn’t blipped out, the event left him deeply effected. His home, destroyed, almost his entire people wiped out. And then Loki, killed by that monster. It more than broke him- it left him a husk. He fell apart. It was only being pushed by the ragtag team of surviving heroes that he managed to push on, to defeat Thanos.
After all was said and done, Thor walked away from New Asgard, from Earth, for a while. To try and give himself space to heal. Space was vast, empty. It gave him room to examine himself, to sit with being worthy, still. To what he could offer Earth, and his friends. He had been gone two years, when he returned- maybe not completely healed, but ready to start working towards his role as protector of Earth.
The loss is still heavy in his heart. So many people he cared for perished. But he cannot give up fighting. Not again. That would be an insult to their memory. So he will be among them- and watch. Fight the fight when no one else can.
And maybe one day... he will find the strength to be King once more.
where are they living? are they living with anyone?
Currently, Thor wanders the city of New York. As much as he misses his people, he’s not ready to go back there- there’s still too much expectation. But he helps keep an eye on things. And he is too proud to ask for help- he wouldn’t be a burden on old friends, not like this.
why is your character affiliated with who they’re affiliated with?
While Thor would trust his friends with his life, he doesn’t feel qualified to meddle in the affairs of Midgard- not on the kind of level SHIELD and SWORD do. He is, after all, not Midgardian, and it would be wrong. He fights instead for all of Midgard, when threats arise that no one else could stand against.
who are their major friends, allies, and foes?
Any Avenger- former or current, Thor would consider a friend and ally; and he would call them all shield brothers. Furthermore, the Guardians of the Galaxy have found an ally in him.
Foes are trickier- by most records, his major enemies have all already perished, but there is time yet to find more.
Loki... is a wildcard. And even Thor’s not sure where he stands with his brother. Would stand, rather.
whose hands do they believe the country should be in?
It would be untoward for him to have a strong opinion on Midgard matters of state- Thor would instead prefer that to be left to Midgardians. He will ensure that their world remains safe enough that they may do so.
what’s their current mental state at? their physical state?
Mentally, he’s better than he was. There’s still damage to confront, loss to mourn. But healing is a journey, and he is prepared to walk. Physically, Thor is much better- he dropped the extra weight, tidied up a bit, and addressed his drinking habit. He’s much more the man he was before the snap, and fighting fit.
