omfg i was searching for gifs of a particular xena episode and i found a long post talking about how stuff like xena hits so hard cuz even though they relationship is "subtext" there's such an intense level of development/focus on it and making you as an audience member care and how some modern "gay rep!!!" type stuff fails to do the "making you care" part in lieu of just being like "look they're kissing it's canon!" and i was like yesss so true

and then the next paragraph started with "and that's why i had so many issues with baru cormorant" and it felt like being winded... they had us in the first half ngl, etc.
