I’ve been slowly working on this sketch of my main character in Guild Wars 2 for way too long now. I’d really like to turn it into a proper digital painting, but first - I’ve got no clue on what to do with the background and second - at this rate it’ll likely happen in about… maybe 5 years or so.

This is EXACTLY what I’ve been laughing at these past 8 days! The funniest part is - when you feed it, the meat will violently explode into a literal bloody mess, upon hitting the skyscale pup. I’m starting to think Anet did that on purpose, knowing what the reaction would be for the collection. ::D

In case anyone was curious,

You can give your Skyscale treats and blankets and toys and stuff while you raise it.

But.

The animation for giving it things is a violent overhand yeet.

Rating the gw2 mounts by their backwards walk animations:

Raptor: the smallest head tilt for some peripheral vision, long, confident strides and whole body movements to maintain balance. 1 bumpy ride/100

Springer: feisty little backwards hop. probably kills predators by smacking them with their butts like wombats. Absolute Power/100

Skimmer: constant tail twitch, occasional fin shudder. hates this more than anything. why would you making it go backwards??? its not made for this. 2000 disappointed head waggles/100

Jackal: starts slow, clearly nervous. needs constant eye contact and reassurance from their rider. many future ear skritches/100

Beetle: doesn’t look back at all. doesnt need to. has unquestioning faith in their rider. thank you for believing in me petey, I would die for you. 1 unbreakable beetle bond/100

Griffon: Looks back not out of mistrust but because it is an expert at backing up. probably has a nice little alcove up on a cliff it backs into to roost on the reg. 1 secure tail curl/100

Warclaw: cant turn its head. wont turn its head. it’s all armor back there, why bother? 0 fear of death/100

My contribution, The Predator’s Path in the Heart of Thorns section of the @gw2collective‘s Wintersday Zine 2018, Journeys!

This has been such an amazing experience to be involved in, and that’s an understatement. I’ve grown as an artist so much, and in no small part because of all the kind and inspiring artists who worked so hard to bring this gorgeous art book to life. I joined this thinking it would be intimidating, but instead, everyone came together to motivate one another, the atmosphere was so friendly and relaxed, everyone was just here to do something awesome and I think it’s safe to say it was delivered. There is no piece of art in this project that I don’t admire. I learned so much in such a short time that I believe this has been the most valuable experience of my life so far. So I’m very thankful to have been a part of this! Look forward to much more and a lot of improvement, and of course our new projects from @alchemyartgroup!
