sage's bg3 blog. let's all smoke a blunt with eilistraeei'm not done with the game yet but i'm also not super strict abt avoiding spoilers i'm just out here drowing about
God Gale is endgame for Mayhew, and Mayhew couldn't be more pleased 😌
their mutual wizard disease brought them to some pretty low lows, but hey, ignore the tragedy, they're gods now! first order of business is a little worshiping at the altar 😏
Here's the sketch, which I also like:
Got majorly inspired by these lovely photos, one of which I used as a pose reference.
speaking of the “let me recite their demise” combat voiceline, my sister & I were just discussing the uwu-ification of Gale & tossing out his moral ambiguity and lethality. I often see “he couldn’t hurt a fly” takes about him
and my sister pointed out that it seems like a lot of ppl don’t consider the turn-based encounters & combat in BG3 canon somehow, if that makes sense? like it exists outside of the story & characters & their choices
But certain characters will leave your party permanently if you try to rope them into some combat scenarios because they morally object.
Whereas you can convince Gale to stick around even then. And the man is casting fireball at a room full of people. He’s blowing them up. He’s banishing people to other dimensions and bludgeoning ppl to death with his wizard staff.
and all of that was canon. he did all that.
Then he’s like : ( my poor knees….I need ibuprofen.
idk where I’m going with this it’s just funny to me when I see people depict Gale as a gentle pacifist when he quite literally tells your character how turned on he gets watching them kill people.
we'll be alright, love. we'll make it through, you'll see.
just a doodle of my gnome tav, mayhew, and gale sometime in the long, dark night of the soul that is act 2
line version:
used a photo ref for the general pose. refs are amazing ✌
"Your eyes are like a ripe pomegranate, like the reflection of rubies in the rings of noble ladies, like the red setting sun and like the blood of your enemies that you have shed. Very rich color."
decided to draw some bg3 companions since i finished the game, starting off with Gale because i really came around and found that he's actually quite nice :-)
(featuring my stupid polish tav being annoying to him)
