     “ SO, LET ME GET THIS STRAIGHT, ” Beck says, trailing behind the counter with his new (potential) coworker. “ This is the place where the magic happens but there’s no Santa, no presents, and no elves? You’re really not selling this place. ” 

     Of course he’s teasing, curiosity lighting his eyes as he tries to peek ahead through the door. But in case he gets scolded, he holds the desire back, passively observing this stranger instead. Their eyepatch is the first thing he takes note of. It looks cool, but there’s no way he’s asking about it. Talk about rude, like what the fuck? In fact, he should probably stop. 

     Beck clears his throat, fingers crinkling the bag of baked treats. Should he try one? At the very least, it’ll distract his nerves. He pops one end of a croissant into his mouth and quietly drifts into another world as the dough melts over his tongue. “ Whoa, I taste the magic. ”
