" Have you ever fought a dragon? " And won? But Frieren omitted this very part of her question. It should be a given and besides, if she did not win the fight, the other would not stand in front of her. Right? She gazed up at the woman. " I need someone to distract the dragon down the valley for me. " She was not particularly in the mood to play tag with a dragon today.
Heysel, caught in the middle of scribbling something inside a palm-small journal in an even tinier cipher, stared at the visitor with the disoriented look of a woman abruptly woken up, then replied, politely, with:

“What?”
And then again, with more feeling: “Ah- what?”
Truth was she’d sort of heard the question, but the stranger’s look had made the processing of it a secondary task in the sweet sponge of her mind. Nothing too outlandish to her: Heysel had witnessed slit pupils, wings, claws, fire and curse, rot and decay growing upon and distorting living beings, and who was asking her questions had none of such traits. But she did have two long ears, tapering to a fine end, and she simply couldn’t help but think that her teacher eternal, the Onyx Lord who gifted her the knowledge needed to void-walk, had those as well.
He was meteor-skinned and long of limb, though. She wasn’t either.
“Sorry, uh. My thoughts were elsewhere, but I’m here with you now. No? I’d say no. I have never slain a dragon in my life. A touch too large for my killing expertise.” A flick of her wrist, and the journal disappeared inside a secret pocket or another like a card trick. Her fists, now empty, settled at her sides. “You need it, nonetheless? Oh, gods, wait. This is Liurnia. You’re talking about that thing in the middle of the shallow lake, aren't you? Are you trying to steal something from its nest?”
