The Tudor court was a fickle beast - a familiar face lit up the halls one day, then suddenly was nowhere to be found. Such was the case with Agnes Grey, at least from Meg’s perspective. Once a member of the princess’ retinue, the lady had all but vanished; her family had wished she return home, some said, and it was a plausible enough excuse. Tensions had risen between Tudor relations and did not seem to be subsiding any time soon; still, the other young woman’s presence at the event was a welcome sight.
Meg waited to approach Agnes until she had finished her previous conversation, then made herself known with a hesitant smile. “Lady Grey, you are a sight for sore eyes. Welcome back to court.” Agnes looked well, as pretty as she ever was, much like her sisters. It really was such a shame that politics had thrown a wrench into things. “Have you come all the way from Suffolk?”

The masked rider soared throughout the sky, looking above from the battlefield occurring below. While he wasn’t too high off the ground, it was enough to scout the area-- the reasoning behind this? None necessarily. A breather was always nice and rarely had any strings attached, so here he is making most of the opportunity of his wyvern being reverted to her own full size.
An abrupt noise, akin to a growl, reverberateda from the confines of the lizard’s throat. A delicate hand brushed against the side of the companion’s neck, attempting to soothe the mind. Though this gesture had no affect, a sharp turn suddenly being maneuvered. As this proposed as unexpected, Gerome had almost lost his balance but a limb clutched on the reign refrained him from doing so.

Making a somewhat bumpy landing, a grunt escaped from the wyvern upon reaching the ground as the male hoped off. The sight of a woman accessorized with brown hair beckoned towards his sight, except her back was turned towards him. Not wanting to startle her, a voice of nonchalant and softness sounded. ❝... Hello?❞

to see one of the sheep of the princess’ comitive, rather than the shepherdess herself, perhaps was best to ease her up. meg had stood out within hatfield, not only for a different appearance ( that had, nevertheless, blossomed into a beautiful bloom ) to that of the garden of fair haired english roses, but for the favor she held; despite her fortunes and misfortunes, meg had been such a sweet companion, both to their mistress and to agnes herself, she could not find it in her to avoid her, nor hold her in any sort of contempt. it is as such that the smile that appears in her lips is one of the most genuine she’s mustered tonight. “lady welles, i appreciate it. you look quite the part of a proper courtier yourself.” it was to be expected. while agnes had dreaded the moment william was to rise to kingship and elizabeth to accompany him and drag her along to where the boleyns’ venom would be most deadly, she knew many of the other companions longed for it, and the lady hertford could not truly blame them. she offers her answer as a soft nod, though their seat had not been in suffolk since the brandon had become the grey — bradgate was not in great distance from hatfield, and agnes did not want to give room to any talk of it, and her ability or inability to have visited, or the reasons for it. “how has it been for you?” she queries. “and lady ashley? has she settled in well in this grander court? it is a bit of a difference to hatfield.” her former governess, for all of her initial distrust of her grey charge, had been a motherly figure for almost half of her life, and agnes would have to be much more insensitive than she passes herself as to not miss her, or any of the other ladies, such as meg. “have you been sneaking away from her gaze to sample the french wines? i promise i shall not tell.” mirth rests on the corner of her lips and upon her gaze, betraying agnes’ own wish to regain some geniality and familiarity between them.
A compliment from a man was always well received, but a compliment from a woman was that much more pleasing; men often lied in attempts to flatter and swindle, and while women could often do the same, Meg knew that Agnes Grey's heart was true. All three Grey sisters were formidable women, but Meg had grown to know Agnes more closely than her sisters, and reveled in her return to social society. "You are as kind as I have always known you to be," she replied with a genuine smile to match her peer's.
Elizabeth's voice in the back of her mind, Meg took care not to come off too eager or excited, as she was wont to do when attending an event such as this. "His Majesty has been very good to all of, his court remains as active as one could wish!" If there was one thing Meg loathed it was being bored, but she could not claim to have encountered boredom in quite some time. At Agnes' quip, her smile turned to a knowing one. "If not I, then who? I believe we are to enjoy ourselves, are we not? We are no longer children, Mistress Ashley must agree..." Still, Meg took a quick glance over her should to ensure that the governess was not in sight.
