#<-- at morp: hell yeah creatures!
Note
Could I request Lapis reacting to a little girl who thinks she’s a mermaid princess (since mermaids are often portrayed with the power to control water)?
Tumblr media
She...really wants to deny it. No kid, she’s not a mermaid princess. She’s a gem. Lapis Lazuli?
...But she can’t bring herself to do it. There’s this little human looking up at her with big, awed eyes and Lapis just kinda...crumbles.
“...Yeah. Sure.”“That’s so cool!!!!”
Steven’s thrilled that Lapis has made another friend!! He also encourages it, by the rational of if he didn’t know about gems either, he might’ve thought the same thing!
Lapis rolls with it and even learns how to do the mermaid fish-tail to amp up her story.
“So... Why?”“I dunno, really. Guess maybe because we didn’t understand water creatures that good?”
.....Lapis has a feeling it was gems who tricked humans like that and that’s what happened, but she doesn’t bring this up to Steven. Let those sleeping dogs lie, right?
Anyways, lots of entertainment for that little girl. Water shows, Lapis showing off her new mermaid tail... If the girl can swim, they can go out into the ocean together!!
If not, Lapis drags the ocean around them, complete with fish.
...Not enough, right? Makes an air bubble for the girl and brings her into the water to show her whales, dolphins, and sharks!!! Schools of fish! That’s cool, right?
Is honestly way more supportive and fun than anyone would’ve expected her to be with a kid.
The kid LOVES that Lapis calls her art meep-morps. However... Now all art is “meep-morps” to this little girl. Steven isn’t sure what to make of this growing trend...
Lapis is pretty happy and content, though. Hell yeah.
