I have to agree w lunaa bc if there is ever an opp in my fics that’s an actual character, it’s uraraka!

Tbh it’s mainly bc it’s easy to do so in fics since it’d make sense (like her hating bakugo bc he got beef w izuku). But the reason I don’t like her ACTUAL character is just bc she be a tad over the top w her crush. Like ik she’s a shonen love interest so that’s supposed to be the entire point of that character but all she do is talk about him like everytime she’s on screen😭 I like her outside of that tho ngl she just needs more character development outside of the few little arcs she’s had (ex sports festival)

because i love love uraraka, i really do. i stood up for her all the time when tiktok ran a whole hate train on her in like 2020 because she “got in the way” of like tododeku and bakudeku or todobakudeku or todobakukamikirideku type shit. i stood up for her when people decided they wanted to make classist jokes toward her like most of us ain’t struggling with money issues too! it was like so crazy and i feel that’s why i like her so much. just such an overhated character.

HOWEVER, i can also understand that she’s a bit….. underdeveloped. most of her screentime only involves her interacting and helping deku on his hero journey or mina (+ some other member in the class but mostly mina) teasing her about her crush. it’s not even the fact she has a crush on deku, but it’s just the fact they only make it seem like she’s only important for that even though they really could’ve built on her story line about wanting to help people (because she states that’s her drive to becoming a hero) and also helping her parents out.

but tbh i also think her being an opp may be a little OOC too because i cannot see uraraka talking down on bakugou at all😭 she’s literally the nicest girl ever and the relationship between her and bakugou is just mutual respect. ngl she might feel a type of way about bakugou because of his constant insulting of midoriya (well more like harsh encouragement) and not like the way he is but like everyone is a little weirded out about how bakugou treats midoriya so yeah. but yk it may be ooc tho but she has motive and it’s the most reasonable how people would characterize her that way in fics.
