@yes7erdays liked for an 11th Doctor starter
'Not again, not here, not now. Please.' The Doctor just wanted a break, some solace from the constant running, but his enemies were too many, and so many didn't rest in their pursuit of him.
Tumblr media
"Clara, don't stop looking. You have to keep contact, just, just keep stepping backward. Like this."
The worst part, the Doctor had no idea if this was their first time seeing them on this trip. Holding one hand up high to look for tally marks, there was some relief that his skin was blank. There he shoved that hand into his jacket pocket to withdraw a pen and blindly write a single tally mark on his hand.
The Silence were not known for their speed; they didn't need to be fast when their targets constantly forgot their existence in the blink of an eye. This was good. They had time to escape.
"If you look away, you'll forget."

The Doctor knew better than to glance at the contents of River's journal, but he couldn't help but peek and estimate how many pages were left. All too few, although a library of journals wouldn't contain enough time to be with her.
Regardless, his worries were never something he planned to share with River. They were his thoughts to burden alone. Yet, those thoughts were firmly hidden behind the child-like grin across his face as he spoke to his wife.
"Oh," he exclaimed with a clasp of his hands together and began to waltz around the console room. "So I recently came across an interesting advertisement. It was for a video game of sorts, which didn't seem that interesting itself, but the part that really gets to you is the fact that you can't ever stop playing unless you win."
Tumblr media
"There are currently thousands of people stuck in a game that they can never beat, and so, they can never escape… now that I say that out loud, it's more of a cry for help than an advertisement."

'Your wife is in prison.'
To most, that phrase would, at the very least, upset someone, yet to the Doctor, it was like announcing the date. Instead of worries, the Doctor's only question was: which prison this time?
Next thing he knew, he found himself unceremoniously thrown into River's cell, his usual eccentric attire replaced by the drab and worn prison garb that marked him as just another captive. One detail he was rather proud of was that his prisoner ID bore the number 1111.
As the cell door clanged shut behind him, the Doctor couldn't help rise to his feet, brush off the dust of the floor below off his knees and greet River with a casual quip, "Your standards of prisons are lowering, River. At least Stormcage knew how to brew a proper cup of tea."
Once he was sure no ears were around, his smile fell. The jovial façade gave way to a more serious demeanour.
Tumblr media
"I've been told you were caught stealing. We both know you never get caught so that bares the question: why did you let them see you?"

@ravenbraved liked for a starter from the 11th Doctor
"Clara!"
The Time Lord's shout echoed louder than anticipated, prompting him to momentarily cup his neck and check his voice box. Satisfied that all parts were in order, he entered the classroom with a gleeful step, plunking down at a student's desk. However, his initial glee gave way to discomfort as he continuously readjusted his seating position on the uncomfortable seat.
Tumblr media
"Hmm. Do you take requests for classroom furnishings?" he inquired, perching on the edge of the seat.

@whatspoilers asked "this isn't what i had in mind." for eleven
Tumblr media
"What?"
A momentary lapse hung in the air as the Doctor grappled with the request River had made. A date, or at least an attempt at one, may have derailed into something a bit adventurous and a tad perilous but surely that was their modus operandi by now.
There has been the death of not one, or two, but three humans, and whilst death was the unfortunate nature of life for all mortal beings, what piqued the Doctor's interest lay in the peculiar aftermath. Each of the departed individuals, post-mortem, had been sighted wandering through the streets, defying the very nature of mortality.
"Well, no, but River look. A murder investigation, or a ghost one. I'm not quite sure yet, but there's one thing I do know," the Doctor mused, a glint of excitement flickering in his eyes. "You make a very good detective."

@clarasheart gets a starter from eleven
It was difficult for the Time Lord to balance himself against the wooden fence, the temptation to rush off and find his friend almost too much but the presentation mattered. He stood there checking off mental boxes as he struggled to maintain composure. North west USA? Check. Cowboy hat? Check. Bowtie? Double check. He was all set to embody the essence of a 'cool' space cowboy.
However, the carefully crafted façade crumbled in an instant as impatience seized him. Springing to his feet, he inadvertently toppled the post he leaned on. The brief few minute wait was an eternity and he missed his friend within that 'eon'.
Tumblr media
"Clara! There you are. I was beginning to wonder if you had gotten lost."
