hihi ive loved your works for ages and where loyalty lies is one of my favourite twst fics ever, youre SO good at writing!! but ive always wondered (i hope it's okay to ask), what happened with trey and riddle before?

Awww thank you!! 🥰🥰 of course it's okay to ask! someone asked the same question months ago here, but i can explain a bit more

The TLDR would be that I took a lot of inspiration from Riddle's childhood, although he's already at the point where he does accept that some of the rules set up for him are too restricting, especially since he's already an adult. How is he supposed to gain power and respect if many of his decisions are influenced by his family?

When it comes to Riddle's position as the young lord of the dukedom, as well as being the first in line to becoming the head of the duchy as soon as his mother steps down as duchess, he feels a lot of pressure basically to become as good of rulers as them, so he follows a lot of their advice and instructions. After all, the Rosehearts duchy is successful, isn't it? Is there a need to protest against what has been proven tried and true? So when his mother in particular tell him to do or not to do something, he simply accepts it as what is good for him.

Trey, first as an esquire Riddle happened to notice (because Trey had pastries and he offered Riddle one in secret), and then to becoming his personal knight (which was deemed reasonable enough due to closeness in age and Trey's squeaky clean reputation), was one of the few people to actually tell Riddle to have some more agency. He didn't exactly tell him that "hey, what people are telling you are all wrong", but more so "you should learn to analyze things and make decisions for yourself without thinking of what they would say or if they would approve, especially since you're going to be the future duke." Che'nya is in a similar position as Trey as well, basically the "bad influences" to Riddle.

I don't have a particular scene envisioned as to how his mother finds out that Trey and Che'nya are the reasons Riddle has been disagreeing more and more with his parents, but Trey takes the blame for it both because he's just a good friend but also because he sees himself as less important (he's just an average knight, Che'nya is a talented magician, and it would be bad if Riddle got in too much hot water defending him because of how much progress he's made already)

but honestly actual advice i definitely would recommend looking into law just because it's so useful in case you get into situations, especially any law about agreements and contracts and obligations! know your rights and what's legal and what is just a corporation taking advantage of you! and all that AND if you ever do decide u want to look into it look for books/videos providing hypothetical examples or real life cases! so much more interesting and easily digestible that way. to quote, "ignorance of the law is not an excuse, everyone is presumed to know the law"

WOW ok so i just read your new sebek fic and i just cant get over how perfect your interpretation of him is. hes a super cute guy and a great character, but it's definitely difficult to portray him in a likeable way, since his personality can irk a lot of people. but you use his perceived "flaws" to your advantage, which clears up a lot of misunderstandings people usually have for sebek! your work is addictive for sebek lovers and im SUPER looking forward to your future works!

The way you portray Riddle and Reader is not really something I often seen in the fandom.

Instead of the quite common "Troublemaker x Rule Sticker" or "Slacker x Hard worker", it is "scholar-lord x scholar-lord", two people who have chemistry with each other, but put their first priority on studies instead of relationship is just🤌🤌 hsabpwycdkpshsvsjskskskwhwpb

Therefore, the ending is very satisfying for me🤭🤭 "Maybe more than friends, less than lovers"=my fave trope💁‍♀️ I'm so lovin' it~♡

About ur characterization of Riddle, I really like how his need of having to be the dominant one/in control is there and also very on point😭😭😭😭 He couldn't bear being looked down on/underestimated, to the point even something so small, like the reader sitting on desk would look like towering over him sorta irks him in a way---one of the reason why the 'empty classroom part' is my fave scene🥺🥺🥺

As I think arguments is not 100% a bad thing, clashes and conflicts can serve as a way of knowing each other on a deeper level+broaden perspectives (which I hc Riddle' would learn to appreciate), just careful the words not to hurt the other too much+properly make up
