so I will be remaking Marianne.  I just want to start over,  tbh,  there’s a lot to go through and so much old meta that has no standing anymore.

I’m just going to repurpose an ancient blog so I can still use legacy tbh,  but I’ll still use beta editor for those of you who prefer it.

Marianne will always become something terrifying and also tragic as she progresses,  even in her most neutral of story lines.  it’s honestly just the way i view her,  something beautifully tragic,  like the aftermath of forest fire,  the hollow ringing which will linger long after the crash of thunder,  the shattering of glass,  the fading notes of some great and terrible screaming match.

in looking glass,  she is the fragile girl torn apart by cruel religious figures,  and the awful belief that she caused her mother’s death,  so this madness gnawing away at her is punishment from an uncaring god.  only to eventually become sucked into the world of the fantastical,  a conduit between two worlds,  already so frayed.

as mary ann in looking glass,  she is one of the eternal queens of looking glass,  and all she touches shall fall to rot.  she is the unflinching,  unfeeling death,  severed from gentle light.

in twist,  she is the lingering devouring hunger of a phantom,  existing both as and beyond those painful,  twisted,  devouring beings born out of despair and magical waste.  the heartless queen born from the desperate heart of Alice Underhill,  the watery love of Charlotte Clover,  and the coppery regret of Red Queen.  ( one could say she was made for Rosehearts,  though who is to say )  is she not proof that phantoms and humans can coexist,  become something more,  something beyond that which one must fear?  but  ...  when you are born of blot,  are you really that different?

and then there is path to nowhere,  where she is but another nameless orphan scrapped up from the rotting and contaminated syndicate,  given new life under Charlotte’s care because she looks just like his deceased sister.  she’s raised alongside Alice,  the heir,  until one day Alice isn’t the heir anymore,  now it’s Mary Ann’s turn.  and as the heiress to a family of ridiculous wealth and prestige,  it is so easy to cover up the fact that she is a Sinner.  ( her head gets tender at night,  and she feels phantom fingers in her hair,  she can hear Charlotte’s all too calm voice in her ear,  reminding her that she belongs to this family now,  as if she ever had a choice. )

for a time,  Marianne always begins her life stuck in this eternal quagmire,  until either she pulls herself free or until someone else reaches down and takes her hand.  but it’s dangerous,  reaching for Marianne.  she might just pull you down.

so after the holidays, i want to write an event, i guess, like how Mary Ann would be introduced in ptn. the main sinners involved would be lisa, mr. fox, chelsea, and demon bc reasons, good reasons at that. with possibly be hints at enfer or mcqueen, bc artist.

the base plotline, i suppose, would be the reopening of the looking glass gallery, with mary ann finally making a public appearance since that incident. it's prime time for the mbcc to finally arrest the heiress to the liddell fortune. but the chief comes to find out that through her paintings, mary ann has been manipulating those in attendance, turning the event into a caucus race which could possibly become a black ring incident if someone doesn't stop her.

demon having war flashbacks. i mean, demon having flashbacks to how he failed to stop charlotte's death, and the massascre that would follow. he'd also be the one to explain how the events happened roughly 10 yrs ago, but all the references to the event are wrong. you know, bc word gets around with the sinners.

mr. fox previously dated mary ann, so history between them is ... something, but he also knows the most about how the liddell family abused legal loop holes, and previously allowed him to work for them, which is how he met mary ann.

chelsea is the chief's ticket to this exclusive as hell event. like even the mbcc couldn't pull strings to get in, being blocked constantly. so the chief has to agree to be her date for the evening.

lisa recieves a mysterious invitation to the event, but isn't allowed a plus one. very sad. but the real curiousity is that she's never been invited to these exclusive liddell gala events before, so why now after that accident, and after she's taken to becoming one of the harshest critics out there?

oh, and Mary Ann does supply her very important guest ( lisa ) with a very nice cocktail dress.

you know, i will forever appreciate how ptn describes the Sinner alignments. like they didn't have to be so visual and visceral with some of these descriptions.

i’m slowly but surely collecting my lore,  fixing it,  and putting it in a nice little link list on my carrd.  for reference,  you can always double-check here for specific details.

over the next coming weeks, there will be reposts of old twist lore that will be updated to accomidate changes to Marianne's history and future within that world. after that, i'll be turning my focus to both of my original verses, and important aspects of that world-building. some of the information accompanying old edits are now totally obsolete, so i'll be updating those edits or taking them down and reposting them.
