Ventress. ( @bastxrds, moved for beta )
Unfortunately, she’d learned the hard way that criminals weren’t always the smartest. Even though she hadn’t met with the cops she knew that they would find out who’d broken into the bakery. Everyone in the town was close and something like this didn’t really happen. And when it did they were quick to pinpoint the cause. This time, though, none of them had seen it coming and she was certain once the group at the bar found out all hell would break loose. “I hope not either,” is all she can say in return, hoping that it was a stranger. Saj knew it would make things easier if it was a stranger. If it was someone Red knew? All she could think was that they better be far away from town. She wasn’t the only one who would resort to violence when someone they cared about was threatened. Or in this case hurt. “Red, I’m sure one of your assistants can get started on all of that,” she pointed out, shaking her head. Leave it to Red to think about all the work she had to do instead of the fact she’d been hurt. They all knew she was busy and that her business had picked up recently. But she knew that if the others found out she’d just walked out of the hospital they’d show up and bully her to rest. “I don’t know, they haven’t said anything to me,” she told Red shrugging her shoulders. It didn’t look like the ER was busy but all of that could change in an instant. “You should be resting anyways after what happened.”

she enjoys a fair amount of privilege being a small town favorite & while she's not normally keen on admitting that little fact, she's grateful for it right now. even if Luke's men don't find who was behind this, Andy would & that's almost scarier. Andy wasn't even the one who worried her the most, she was just the loudest, most obviously displeased one in a crowd when something went down.
no, the honor of being the one who genuinely could have scared her rested on the shoulders of the woman currently giving her a look that almost made her regret asking to go home.
almost.
' not if the bakery is taped off. ' it felt like a reasonable thing to point out, at least. ' I will rest. far more comfortably than I am here if I can go-- ' Clary points out as she tries to keep the edge of a whine out of her voice as she bites off, realizing how impossible it probably was. she lived above the bakery. the door to her apartment was inside the back hallway access.
the very same door that had been busted wide open when whoever it had been had come down the alley with a pry bar. she shivers quietly, realizing how much worse things could have been if she had finished up & gone upstairs unaware, only to be shaken out of sleep to the commotion downstairs instead.
the energy rushes out of her as she exhales & finally looks up at Saj. ' I just don't want to be here. I'm not... up for having to pretend I'm fine when everyone inevitably descends on me, you know? '
