—— it’s just another typical week in hawkins i guess — isn’t that right, lia aikawa? huh, guess they can’t hear me over  separate ways (worlds apart) by journey playing on their walkman, but it looks like they’re headed to work as a freelance artist. did you know lia has been in hawkins for a week? yeah, they’ve been described as a bit unapologetic, but i suppose them also being open-minded outweighs the negative. i’ve also heard people say they remind them of unfocusing your eyes to see the true meaning of art, not caring to follow any of society's unfounded rules, ethereal lilac eyes that make your deepest secrets feel seen… however, that could just be this weeks newest rumor.

lia arrives in hawkins by sheer chance: being bored, craving change, and throwing a dart at the map. the second they step foot in the town, she feels off, a shiver up their spine, a suffocating energy. something is wrong, but she won’t let that stop her from having a good time... hopefully.

Headcanons

lia has ocular albinism. this means she's legally blind and has a high sensitivity to bright lights, amongst other things. this also affects the color of their iris. it has little to no pigmentation - a very light blue that's translucent. this mixed with the blood vessels in their eyes cause her irises to look like they're a light purple. 

when she was younger, she could see with glasses, though they were warned that their eyes would inevitably deteriorate. she made the decision in grade school to embrace it and not wear glasses at all. they found beauty where they were, seeing the world as naturally as they could, the way their body was meant to. 

despite its beauty, lia hates the night sky. she has high myopia, which means they are very nearsighted. so while they hear how the stars shine and glimmer by definition, she can't see them and doesn't like the reminder that she can't even remember what they looked like.
