Tsubasa had no clue what Lacie meant by ‘they’, but she enjoyed her friend’s presence all the same; she focused on taking in Lacie’s warmth and did her damndest to ignore the loud sounds of the haunted house.
“N-no, I’ll be f-fine… let’s just focus on getting out of here…” Tsubasa spoke softly, flinching at another loud crash. There was some solace, at least, in the fact that the rest of Pikarigaoka’s Halloween festival would not be this noisy.
THERE WERE TWO THINGS Lacie regret.
1) She shouldn’t have entered this haunting house with Tsubasa.
2) She wished she had taken a different direction because ....
They were lost. Lacie looked around her. It didn’t help everything was so pitch dark! She saw a few things like the shapes of the objects but the layout was so difficult to grasp that Lacie could barely make it out of it. “Tsubasa, just remain close to me.” She said softly. “Once we get out of here, let’s treat ourselves to ice cream~ I feel like eating some chocolate with strawberry on top of it~” She said as way to forget the scary situation they were in.

WITH A RAISED EYEBROW, Lacie looked around her, and, then, back to her companion. ❝ Are they always trying to scare people like that? ❞ Lacie asked Tsubasa as they make their way through the spooky haunting house. The maiden of red wasn’t the slightest amused by the fake ghosts or skeletons. They’d come at a point on the pathway and suddenly a headless doll with pop up from the air. Some visitors either jumped out of fear or shrieked the air out of their lungs.
( Lacie was glad that a certain someone with a white ponytail wasn’t with her. )
❝ It’s silly. ❞ She continued mocking the place and considered a few positive notes. ❝ But, they’re creative, I give them that. ❞ She chuckled a little. ❝ What do you think, Tsubasa? Do you feel chills running down your spine? ❞

Lacie felt she was being wrapped into something warm. It scared her a bit at first but when she was met with the soft voice reassuring her she’ll be alright, Lacie let her sink into the gentle touch and returned the hug. “For what do I deserve your kindness, Tsubasa?” Lacie’s voice was weak. She was trying hard to hold on. “I feel so cold. Don’t you have it cold?”

How long ago had she seen her? Lacie had met a lot of people--most faded away from her mind with time. Faces once familiar became a blur. Distant memories locked away in the far back of her mind. But this particular person she remembered.
“You,” Lacie muttered. Soft and careful. No ill intentions. She didn’t finish yet. Her memories flooded back to the time they met and when that was crystal clear she realized what she wanted to say to complete it. “I remember you. But do you remember me too?”
Lacie had expectations she did. If not, it’d be a pity. Either way, meeting someone again was a peculiar thing; she didn’t have a lot of encounters that would lead to the same person.

Silence kept her lips from moving up and down. The words had to register in her system first before she could attempt to answer them verbally. You may wonder why she couldn’t it straight away ( Lacie was known to be chippy - her answers were forward and a very cynical at times ) but it was simple; nobody, literally nobody in the twenty-five years of her life had told her they believed in her. The impact hit her. It may not look so from the outside but inside she was bursting with grattitude.
❝ Thank you, Tsubasa. Although I’m not deserving of your kindness, you have my utmost thanks. ❞ Her smile was small and shining with appreciation. ❝ I’m always there for you if you need me. ❞ If anything, that was her way of repaying Tsubasa’s kindness.
