ㅤㅤㅤTHEY'RE IN THE SAME DOJO NOW. Sooner or later, they'd have to work together. Ironic how she didn't know Demetri that well, and yet she'd played a part in hurting him more than most other people. Maybe not directly, but she can't help but feel like her goading played a part in his arm getting broken. ( Yeah, even she was horrified by that afterward when all the adrenaline and the rush of the conflict had subsided. ) Not like she was nice to him otherwise. He was on Hawk's bad side back then, so by default he was on her bad side. Until Hawk flipped. God, that whole situation seems so stupid in hindsight.

ㅤㅤㅤUSUALLY WHEN SHE HEARS THAT NINA IS COMING TO THE DOJO, Tory makes sure she's not home when she arrives. Nothing good ever happens when the two of them run into each other. As much as she struggled with it at first, Tory knows she has to trust Daniel's judgement here. If he sees that Nina genuinely wants help, then it's not her place to question that, no matter how worried she is that the opposite might be true. But if Nina's case for emancipation goes to shit, then none of it would matter anyway. Tory's been there before. She had to get emancipated so she could legally handle all the adult shit for herself and her family when her mom got worse, and also avoid becoming a ward of the state when the inevitable happened. She knows how hard that process is, all the hoops you have to jump through. How much she needed help at the time and didn't get it.

There's a mix of noise from the garden outside; the sounds of the rest of Miyagi-do gathered around the deck as they take turns sparring. Tory had taken advantage of the distraction to slip away and wait inside for Nina ( and meditate a little to calm her nerves ) . Just seeing her again feels awkward, and for a moment, Tory wonders if she should just go back outside and rejoin the others. ❝ I'm not trying to ambush you or anything. I just want to talk. ❞ To offer an olive branch of sorts. There's no way to know if Nina would even accept it; Tory did offer once, in the aftermath of Silver's arrest, but the other girl shut her down rather harshly. ( Another reason why she doesn't wholly trust her intentions now. ) But she thinks of Daniel's words, and she knows she needs to do this, even if being around Nina still makes her stomach turn. A piece of paper is folded against Tory's palm, twisted nervously by her fingers as she fidgets. ❝ Look, we both know that neither of us are gonna pretend like we don't fucking hate each other, but even I can see that you're in a shitty situation.
