make a summary of the plot - what do u want to happen, who are your characters, tropes and the emotions !!

plot in sections - some of my first ever long fics i broke down into four sections or scenes i think that helps !! these are should be over arching and broad for example “scene one - break up scene”

under section - i make a bunch of plot points and make sure that they literally have anything that comes to mind, i sometimes write them as if it’s a really brief fic with no details or descriptions, sometimes i add specific bits of dialogue i want to include for that scene, where the characters will be and their actions or behaviours. i’ll put a screenshot below of what mine usually look like

have fun and take your time - there’s honestly no rush to long fic, my longest ever took me 5ish months and ended up being 31K and i think mostly bc there was no pressure for me to post it or any deadlines !! it was my little leisure secret hehe

Getting used to having one arm now has been tough. I even tried to reach for something with the nub out of habbit. Buuut I'm at least figuring out more stuff by the day, with the help of my physical therapist and some online articles. I still wish I could afford a prosthetic but unfortunately beggars can't be choosers. ╮(︶︿︶)╭ I still got bills, collage dept, rent to pay and cats to feed. Maybe someday though! Gotta keep optimistic!! ଘ(੭ˊ꒳​ˋ)੭✧

usually when i work on a long project/fic and i don’t know where to start - i open with describing the main theme or emotion of the story? jealousy, heartbreak, rage? i think it’s easier to begin with a broad general perception of the main theme and then tie it to your initial idea!!

i plot before i write as well, if you have chunks of what you want to happen in the story then note it down n u can fill in the gaps once you see it all laid out!!

think of songs that u could use for inspo too!!

how do you plan your fics?? you say stuff about scene 5 and all that and i just.. is this what i have to do when i write so that it doesn't feel like a wreck?? like, write what this part should be and what this part should be??

JDKAJES i think i explained how i plot my fics before under ✧ ₊˚📝੭ — writing help / 📝. writing help BUT i will explain again for u baby!!

so when i write my fics i break it down into plot arcs/scenes so i can better execute the flow or how my writing moves from one part of the fic to another. i used to plot my fics with FOUR main scenes but im able to write longer now so i might have more ( for example this krbk fic has 8 main scenes )

within each of these scenes/arcs, I’ll make a list of bullet points with things i want to happen in them. these can include important bits of dialogue, actions i want the characters to do, who i want them to speak to, when, where and how. the emotions that they feel etc!! and sometimes, if i have a lot i want to cover for the main scene, i’ll break it down into mini/sub scenes where it feels appropriate, especially as I’m writing and something gets too long. that’s why when you read my stuff it doesn’t rlly seem like i only have four or five scenes? if that makes sense !!

it also helps me figure out a beginning a middle and an end— my middle will always be the chunkiest and most climatic part of the fic !!

anyways i know this is mostly ramble so i hope it makes sense and helped a little bit!! my way of plotting might not work for everyone 🥺
