Player Review-Capcom Generation: Dai 1 Shuu Gekitsuiou no Jidai (1999)
Other Titles: Capcom Generations 1: Wings of Destiny, Capcom Generation Collection 1: The Era of Flying Aces, Capcom Generation,  カプコン ジェネレーション -第1集 撃墜王の時代- System(s): Sega Saturn Publisher: Capcom Developer: Capcom Original system(s): Capcom 1942 hardware, Capcom 1943 hardware Game total: 3 Games included: 1942, 1943, 1943 Kai Sound driver: SCSP (1Track) Genre: Compilation, Shooting Number of players: 1-2
The Capcom Generation series exists as a piece of nostalgia for gamers who are fans of the Capcom brand. There is no other reason to own any of these. Maybe Volume 3 has SOME value, because it has games on it like SonSon and Pirate Ship Higemaru most probably have never heard of and might want to sample but for the most part you are literally buying physical copies of a limited rom collection.
The Wings of Destiny set consists of the games from the 19XX series but only the earlier games in the series and excluding 1941 (1942, 1943, 1943 Kai), if you've never played any of those games than you should know that all 3 are insanely boring. These are games I would play on a cell phone if I was stuck somewhere with nothing to do because at least my mind would be occupied but other than that the gameplay style is too dated. This came out in 1998 too which is 2 years after 19XX: War Against Destiny came out. It's a game within the same series but is miles ahead in terms of the graphics and the quality of gameplay, so it would have been nice to see it in this collection.
THE GOOD -Nothing in particular
THE BAD -1943 is the best game on this disk and even THAT is boring. It's just stage after stage of mindless air and watercraft shooting. -Actually acquiring this game will probably run you at least 40$ just to keep as a collector's item, there's nothing on this you will enjoy playing or that you will revisit later. I give this collection a 1.0 out of 10 CAPCOM FANDOM PURPOSES ONLY
