Some Tanizaki headcanons I have that are partially based off of research I have done on the real life counterpart and his works.

𝐰𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠    ──    He has a way with words in regards to certain subject matter,  which shows through at times when writing reports for the Detective Agency.  His way of phrasing oftentimes veers into excessive territory,  employing esthetic prose and flowery descriptions   ;   he has a talent for writing love letters,  which goes largely unappreciated by those in the Agency who has to read his paperwork.

𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭    ──    He tends towards movies more than books,  but he also enjoys a good read whenever he has free time and is in the mood.  His favorite genres are romance and psychological horror.  He found his favorite series at an age where he was too young to legally read it.

𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧    ──    He is both excited and terrified when it comes to flying an aircraft.  Over time he got over his nerves and began to enjoy the feeling of freedom more,  but he has never been a thrill seeker.

𝐝𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠    ──    His favorite physical activity is dancing.  He joined a dance club in middle school and was the only boy there.  In general he is best at and prefers ballroom dances,  but he can also dance to pop songs pretty well.  He cannot pole or break dance.  He holds a top score on Dance Dance Revolution at the local arcade.

𝐟𝐨𝐨𝐝 / 𝐝𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐤    ──    His early morning coffee order is genuinely boring   ;   he likes his coffee with one sugar and one cream.  Beyond that he enjoys foreign cuisine more than he enjoys traditional Japanese dishes.  He can actually be quite critical of his meals,  some would consider him a gourmet,  which is why he rarely eats at cheap restaurants,  instead venturing to cook his own food.  Regardless of preferences,  he usually eats whatever it is that Naomi wants to eat.
