what people don't consider is that bai hua has the potential to be just like macaque and that's why teach is so protective of her. he doesn't want her being 'corrupted'

hmmm. i think emmet might be autistic... the more i think abt it the more it makes sense.
-he has a favorite song he listens to all the time on loop, it could be a sensory thing/stim thing -struggles to know what to do if he doesn’t have written instructions that he can follow. like he NEEDS to be told exactly what to do otherwise his brain stumps itself -he struggles with understanding and picking up on social cues. someone is irritated or annoyed at him? he wont know unless you straight up tell him.  -struggles with listening/focusing. that could also be an adhd/add thing but he definitely has some trouble following a conversation if there’s something else that’s got his attention. (i.e: zoning out while lucy was explaining why lord business is so evil / not following rex’s explanation to his backstory ) -- considering that its a reoccurring thing that happens it’s definitely an indication of some sort of attention deficit going on.  -he’s very honest. and he doesn’t mean it in a blunt sort of way, it’s just how his brain works. he’ll say what comes to mind, and sometimes what comes to mind will tick people off / they will think he’s being rude. and he’s not trying to be at all! -he REALLY likes breakfast. i think that might be another sensory / stim thing, but i mean come on. a toaster room? also the overly sweetened coffee too. that def feels like an unintentional self-medication sorta deal. -he SEEMS to be incompetent and like an air head, but then you see him sit down and quickly come up with these impressive schemes to save the day in both films. and there’s also rex who can be taken into consideration --- the guy built a time traveling spaceship and made a plan to trick his younger self into starting armomageddon for crying out loud. emmet is actually really clever if and when he puts his mind to something.

forever haunted by the fact that emmet remembered the names of everyone in his neighborhood and workplace, always waved hello to them and smiled, and genuinely thought he had friends who would vouch for his innocence,,,

TBH, there are some aspects about the second film that do bug me - which mainly comes down to that scene with emmet, general mayhem and lucy - which the more i think about, frustrates me. lucy felt kind of,, ooc ?? she really didnt back emmet up when mayhem started roasting him, and the way she did "stick up" for him felt super backhanded and nothing like the same lucy from the end of the first movie who was so inspired by emmet's ordinary genuinity that she was able to rally everyone in the universe together to fight back against lord business.
and i disliked how it felt like they were basically undercutting emmet's role in the first film. wasnt the point about the first film that EVERYONE is special and important in their own way? that even the most ordinary seeming person can accomplish great things? like...yeah, emmet isnt a 'fierce leader' - and yes he hasn't really changed like everyone else has in the 5 years theyve been at war, but that doesnt make him completely useless (which is what that scene felt like it was trying to imply), like im sorry, emmet did WAY more in the first film than that scene gave him credit for. all of his seemingly useless, odd ideas actually proved to be SUPER useful and more often than not ended up saving people when they were in a bad pinch (saving lucy and vitruvius from falling into the canyon, creating the double decker couch that ended up saving their lives in the submarine, coming up with a whole ass master plan to get inside business's tower and stop the kragle WHICH NEARLY WORKED)
like!!! i love the second film, its pretty good, i just wish they didnt undercut emmet like that. i get they were trying to set him up for rex to happen -- i just think it could have been written better, without discrediting emmet's capabilities.

hmmm. i’m thinking about cutting back on the amount of formatting i do for my threads. mainly because it takes a lot of time and i feel like i might be more motivated to write if i cut that part out of the routine. 🤔

i’m sad they had to kill off vitruvius like that. i really enjoyed his character and would have loved to see more of his interactions with lucy & emmet ;-;
