I am however back in Canada again and am definitely down at being home. The depression is settling in slowly and deeply, but I'm gonna do my best to just throw myself into other things to keep my sanity in check.

But yeah I am alive!

I am in ✨ so much pain ✨

So, long story short, I broke a tooth and I need to get it taken care of ASAP. Hopefully I'll be able to get into an emergency dentist pretty quickly here, but until then my activity will be in bursts because when the pain acts up, it is... unbearable. Luckily once they take it, I should only be off for like a day while I deal.

HIATUS INCOMING -- So, for those who are not aware, I've been spending the last six months with Mal in the states. However, my time is coming to a close and I have to go home in a handful of weeks. Between that, waning muse, and my usual bouts of seasonal depression, I just don't have a lot of will to be here right now. I will be back !! But probably after I get settled back at home.

In the meantime, I'm still seeing messages / tags over here, but I'm going to be super low activity. You can still find me over on @calledkore, where my muse seems to be focused right now. Just gotta do what I can for self care. Love y'all. ❤

to be clear: I don't mind people pushing Winter as far as asking about her family and their situation. I don't mind questions that prompt some angst or deep thoughts or stress on her behalf. But I've gotten that particular question quite a few times, and on top of that: you should never put pressure on the victim to save other victims.

And let's say Winter did take Whitley out of the Schnee house -- then what? This is a woman who can barely take care of herself, nevermind another human being.

I try not to let my personal trauma bleed too much into my characterization, but sometimes it can't be helped.

I was reskimming the RW.BY comics passingly and now I want to highlight the way that Winter is regarded in them because it lives rent-free in my head.

Are you... are you sure about that Weiss? Really? The perfect heir?

Mind you, these comics take place in the time between volumes three and four. Winter hasn't been the heir for quite some time and there is. a good reason for that.

Okay, Willow is one hell of an unreliable narrator and I got really uncomfy with how the comics portrayed her but once again: you... you sure about that? You really think Jacques was pleased with Winter?

The only thing I agree with here is the whole "the son he wanted with Whitley." Certainly interesting how they kept trying until they got a boy, wasn't it?

Winter also randomly shows up in the panel where Jacques is taking Weiss home from Beacon ( when I am ~ fairly sure ~ she had other priorities at the moment ) and it mentioned as like. Living in the manor? Staying close to the family? When that... could not be farther from the truth.

Anyway the comics are interesting but also just so bizarre.

I friggin' hate the people who run this apartment complex.

Look, I get that apartment living is basically a series of minor annoyances that you just... ignore. You pick the things that you can and cannot deal with and you just sort of accept the rest. But of all the complexes Mal and I have been in, this is the worst.

We've had a neighbor directly bordering us who has been blasting music non-stop for like... months, and no matter how much we complain, nothing is done about it. The office staff has changed like four times since we've been here, which means that every couple months, they overhaul how they do things. Random changes are made and "enforced" but no one actually enforces them. The rules of the property are literally contradictory at times.

And the latest bullshit... So, there's a couple of repairmen who work on the property and I swear to god one is sexist, one is stupid, and the other is Carlos who I do not have nice words for.

So, at 6 AM this morning, we are awakened by our fire alarm. Which is great, because I was working on two hours of sleep and had finally dozed off when it started. Grand. So, we drag our butts out of bed, try to figure out the issue. Change the battery? It still screams. This happened around this time last year too, hilariously, and Mal remembers that they brought us a fire alarm replacement from another unit that wasn't being rented. I point out that fire alarms actually... like... have a shelf life. They can die, and new batteries won't help. They should be fully replaced every like eight / ten years.

So, we wait until the repairmen are on the clock -- five hours later. I manage to get more sleep somehow. We removed the battery so it's now only chirping and not outright screaming. Repairman shows up. Once again, tries to explain how batteries work to Mal. Mal points out that we do, in fact, know how batteries work and that the issue is likely the alarm itself. So he changes the battery. Still going off. Tries some stuff. Still going off.

In the end, he returns with a brand new fire alarm in the box. No "oh hey you were right" or anything, of course. Just replaces it and leaves. And it sounds so minor typed out like this, but my god... it's just a never-ending shit show here. Can't wait until we're able to move out.
