i think in the fifteen concept art notes harukawa mentioned that the coat that dazai wears is the same coat that akutagawa wears now

#so basically coat timeline goes from #mori -> dazai -> akutagawa #and dazai lied about burning the coat when he met mori again. #and y'know dazai is a serial liar. #coat was first given away by mori. then discarded and found by akutagawa i guess. #could represent how mori saw bringing dazai into the mafia as a way of giving him a purpose. #(and also a form of protecting him from. yknow. klling himself) #and then dazai abandons it because he wants to abandon the mafia/mori. and he never really wears it the right way. visual symbolism #and then akutagawa takes it. wears it the right way. maybe bc he likens it to dazai and he cant really move on from that #but now the coat has been destroyed! that's a good thing
