Talking about irl cultures and/in genshin impact, please, y'all, it's written Mondstadt but read mond-shtadt.... i didn't spend 13 years of my life being forced to study german for people not to know TwT
No but for real, i think it's great the devs were actually inspired by real life countries for each region in their game. When i first launched the game and walked into Mondstadt (the city), i felt at home, it felt exactly like the towns i grew up in (I'm from a region of France called Alsace, please look it up and don't laugh at the names of the cities/towns, we know they have more letters than inhabitants alright🤣).
Love you and your blog, never fails to make me feel better after a bad (or not) day^^
Have a nice day/evening, please drink water, get plenty of sleep and eat well!

Ahhh yes, the struggles of pronunciation. I feel your pain OTL Liyue being pronounced as Lee-way instead of Lee-yuueh
But! I get that it's not really something that people will know or learn because there's the stuff with certain sounds being difficult to say as well as habits nodnod. While I agree it is nice for people to learn how to pronounce the regional names (including particular parts of each region), it isn't something that is of big stress if that makes sense. So long as people aren't intentionally butchering names nodnod
Uuu that being said
I agree! You can see how much work that they really put into every place we've been to so far! And it's cool when they post pictures of the irl inspirations for certain places in Teyvat. The devs worked so hard on really developing everything for enjoyment and atmosphere and it certainly shines.
Alsace looks absolutely beautiful! I was actually wondering, as I was reading that bit, if where you grew up was Northern France because Mond, though it is inspired by Germany, also takes from a few other countries in Northern Europe! I know that there's people who have complained that Mond doesn't have many German names (probably because it's not purely inspired by Germany?) but also figured that there'd be some similarities in architecture because of that :DD
It's lovely to hear more about you guys and your experiences in Genshin and how they have bits and pieces of culture knitted throughout! I can only hope that we'll continue to see everything so beautifully thought out like in the three regions we've been introduced to so far :>>
You as well--it is important to get the rest and nourishment you need. Take care, dear pretzel!
