Sometimes ━ rarely, VERY rarely ━ he had to do something "extravagant" in return. Even though he did genuinely view the girl as his friend, one of his best even, they were so different he often worried there was .. doubt. Perhaps just on his end, because CC carried such an air of confidence he couldn't think of her any other way. It's for his own nerves at the very least then that she is granted one brief hug in lieu of greeting before he settles beside her, silent, like nothing happened.

It was the last thing that CC could have possibly anticipated as a greeting. A simple wave and hello is what she’d come to expect from her friend. And that was perfectly fine with her! Cotton Candy of all people understood how different people showed affection, it was quite literally baked into her! Besides, she’d come to enjoy their quiet time together.

But this from her gloomy pal? Now, something as rare as a hug initiated by Ritsu was not going to go without being returned. And, CC being CC, she was going to pay back with interest.

It was relatively often that CC would insist he close his eyes in order to present Ritsu with a little surprise, often while holding both his hands as she was doing right now. A sonnet, a small arts and crafts project, an ill fated meeting with a beloved pet, the things she would present him with would wildly vary and yet he continued to trust her enough to close his eyes for her.

And the odd little surprises weren’t going to see their end today. On the contrary, this would probably be considered her strangest little surprise yet.

Certain that the other’s eyes were firmly shut (No peeking allowed!), she lightly tightened her grip on his hands and gently pulled him over to herself, firmly planting a warm kiss on his forehead. She pulled back, looking quite pleased with herself. The perfect gift!

CC let go of his hands only to pull him into a tight embrace, pressing her cheek against his with a big smile on her face.
