Yesterday was me just settling into the city of Paris. Oh, and I had a flight with no in-flight entertainment, but it was justified because it was an hour 45 minute flight.

Today, I didn’t do much (I was supposed to go to the Colosseum, but skipped out because I initially wanted to go because of my love for Thor: Ragnarok, since, you know, the Grandmaster hosts gladiator fights, but I love Khalil from VeggieTales better now) except look around shops, like a department store with a Pokémon section, a toy store, and a bookstore near my hotel, where I got my first paid souvenir (earlier, I had gotten one of those dancing cactuses and a green laser pointer from a man in my cousin’s neighborhood), the Suzume novel in Italian, which doesn’t come out until December here. I was looking for an Italian copy of Nimona, but they only had Lumberjanes, but the Suzume novel caught my eye.

And speaking of my cousin, we’re on the way to visit her now and take in her town’s nightlife one more time!

Today was a long day…my legs hurt and I am hot and sweaty…

I went to the Trevi Fountain and the Pantheon and a few stores before heading to the Vatican for a tour.

It was experience. The Sistine Chapel and St. Peter’s Bascillica were the highlights, but most of the “art” didn’t interest me.

My ideal art is music, musicals, and other media (movies and TV). However, one thing that interested me was the Sistine Chapel had a painting of Jonah, who I was interested in due to Jonah: A VeggieTales Movie and my current love of Khalil.

So we turn on the TV to the normal channels, and this show called Flopaloo was on, according to the schedule for this channel.

Reflecting on my first night in Europe, I thought I would be bored by Rome…but I found myself appreciating it! My favorite part was the nightlife: Italians sure know how to party, with many people crowding the streets no matter what day of week, even children, light-up toy sellers, and even people just enjoying themselves with minimal technology, such as playing card games, I was able to appreciate the culture of Rome. And I am excited to do this again tomorrow, if I can!

Random inner thoughts throughout my first overnight flight

(Seeing most of the windows are closed) “This plane has no doors or windows, offering you this chilling option…TO FIND A WAY OUT!”

Captain: “The flight will be 7 hours 31 minutes…” Me: “I’m not sleeping on this flight!”

(Seeing couple watching Across the SpiderVerse in sync) “Relationship goals…”

(Miguel O’Hara appears on the couple’s synched Spider-Verse viewing) “There’s the Tumblr sexyman…”

(During take off, when the plane starts to go fast when I’m listening to Happier Than Ever) “I’m gonna die to this song!” (Bad take-off anxiety…)

(Sky is entirely black) “Now we’re in the void…”

(Looking at the flight stats) “17 miles in 1 minute???”

(I smell bubblegum) “Who’s chewing gum at a scary time like this?”

(Wine is being served) “Cheers to NO! SLEEP! TIL’ ROME!”

(Trying to watch Rocky Horror but being distracted by the phone) “Aaand I just lost my attention span. I’d rather go on the internet!”

(Miles appears with the cake box on Spider-Verse) “He got the cake!”

Had the entire Passage to India ad from the earliest version of the Tourist Channel Orlando in my head during dinner, since we ate Indian food.

(When trying to go to sleep) “AND NOW IT’S TIME FOR LUTFI’S FANCIFUL FLANNELGRAM!”

(In the bathroom) “This is going to rip apart and I will die…” (Paranoia seeping in.)

(When I was awake when I was supposed to be sleeping) “I’m glad I’m not acting up like a sleep deprived zombie…I feel well-rested.”

(One of the people who watched Spider-Verse earlier is watching Avatar: The Way of Water) “BORING!”

(The Pirates Who Don’t Do Anything comes on my playlist) “Fitting end to Talk Like a Pirate Day!”

Rant time:

My short attention span on flights has really kicked me in the ass on my first international flight. I will put on a movie, only to turn it off minutes later. The exception: an episode of Spy X Family. I much prefer going on social media to watching a movie…that’s how glued I am to it.

Also, I can’t sleep. Sleeping upwards feels weird. But I’m not alone. My sister also couldn’t sleep (and my brother was awake working on a script while my father tortured himself with About My Father).

Other than that, I’m in an okay mood.
