hi it’s cecy again back with another character who is a trainwreck, please be mean to her @mapleviewstarters.

『 moon gayoung. twenty-five. cisfemale. she/her. 』 oh heavens, is that YESEUL CHANG from MAIN STREET i see roaming around mapleview? minnie may’s always calling them -UNSCRUPULOUS & -IMPASSIVE. i happen to think they’re not that bad! they’re a pretty cool CON ARTIST/LAW STUDENT and every time i’ve seen them, they’ve always been +ASTUTE & +PERTINACIOUS. i hope i see them around again!

THEN:

yeseul was born in seoul, south-korea. had a lovely early childhood, her parents loved her dearly. at 2, her mother unfortunately passed away in a car accident. her father, yongsuk, fell in love with an american woman just months after, and by the time yesi was 3 they had moved to mapleview

yongsuk nurtured his incredible talent for magic and in the states he became quite a famous magician. yesi’s new stepmom, linda, didn’t care for it, but yesi was in awe of her father, her hero. she soon took up magic just like him

when yeseul was around 10 she started acting out. she would steal from shops, get into fights at school, and was generally a difficult kid. linda already disliked her, but at this point the two girls could barely stand each other at all. yongsuk was the mediator, but really always sided with yesi

yesi was becoming an increasingly better magician, as well as doing good in school, all thanks to the little extra attention her father was now giving her

when yeseul was 15, her father would perform his most ambitious — and also very last — trick ever. being called the houdini of this generation, yongsuk let it get to his head, and he was put in a box, chained in, and sunk into a lake, promising his daughter he’d be up soon. he never emerged again

linda found a way to secure himself whatever fortune yongsuk had and effectively kicked yeseul out. she soon found herself moving to new york to stay with her aunt

new york catered to her in a way mapleview never did. she found her crowd, was introduced to a whole scene of thieves and liars. snuck her way into venues to seduce dumb men and steal their wives’ jewelry. she’d snap people’s wallets and make a show out of it. invincible but utterly lost

at 18 she moved to las vegas and began gambling and soon found she was very good at it. cheating her way through everything and emptying pockets wherever she went, yesi had soon become a criminal that no one seemed able to catch — think the movie now you see me. very much the life she should be living right there

3 years ago she returned to mapleview, kicked her stepmom out of what yesi felt was rightfully her house with the documents ( albeit not real ) to prove it

NOW:

eat the rich !! your valuables are safe if you’re not flashing them around in an annoying way. to put it this way: she’d steal from jeff bezos, not bill gates

yesi studies law not because she cares to reinforce it, but if she’s breaking them it’s good to have a foot on the inside. it’s practical even though it’s boring

nights are often spent at bars, fancy venues, often outside of mapleview, scouting out her next victim — and she is good at it, almost to the point one might think there is actual magic involved

how did she land a job with a good man like robin abrams you ask ? she’s efficient, a quick learner and she does a good job. sure, she may give him a hard time and be blunt, but at the end of the day she’s committed to her work — both of them

PERSONALITY/MISC:

there’s really no way around the fact that yesi feels broken. she’s apathetic almost to a fault, rude and careless and extremely blunt. there is no sugarcoating where she is involved. that doesn’t make her mean though — if you’re her friend you’re in good hands. but she doesn’t exactly go out of her way to make friends. she’s very fine and capable of being on her own

she acts like she’s better than everyone else, but deep down she knows she’s not. it’s safer this way though. it’s as if nothing ever hurts her. may be a tad narcissistic, definitely has too much confidence

she’s a drama queen. she lives for the dramatic flare, making a show out of things. it’s not necessarily because she wants to be in the spotlight, but she just doesn’t see why she shouldn’t when she can. she would love to one day pull off a great heist, of the likes of the pink panthers, but mapleview is limiting that greatly

yeseul is intelligent and also has photographic memory. that’s how she graduated high school so high in her class and also got into law school. there may have been some falsified documents in the mix as well, but you’ll never hear it from her

beneath it all, yesi has a big heart waiting to crack. if one pushes the correct buttons, the girl is bound to break

TL;DR:

another cinderella story, yesi was an orphan at 15 with an evil stepmother, always loved magic and wanted to become a magician like her father, but she started using tricks to steal from people instead. is really good at what she does which is being a horrible person and lying. real ugly <3
