So, will say I am not someone who often takes a critical lens to narratives of stories, and am not speaking to that. But realized, after thinking about both FFXV and Lord of the Rings recently, that part of what left me not loving FFXV was that, the way they had pitched it as a story of brotherhood, I was expecting something of the feel of the Fellowship.
Not precisely, of course - and definitely mixed with other expectations - but in a way the party composition was similar: character bearing an immense burden and companions who are his protectors, but also, ultimately his friends. But then that was not much what the relationships were like in XV. Not saying that was good or bad, just not what I liked or was expecting
