Sometimes reading in another language is so frustrating. I've been reading this short novel in Japanese and there's this one character that 80% of the time I can't understand their dialogue, a mixture of vulgar tone and uncommon vocabulary, and so I have to keep putting whole phrases into papago to translate them and break them down. And then usually it turns out it's not all that complex, but I just can't seem to wrap my head around their way of speaking. I've started putting a few quotes from that character in my notes and breaking them down, and I'm hoping eventually it will help.
