Actually while we're on the topic of empathy

Hi I wanna get back up on my soap box to talk about what empathy is, and how it's might not be what you think it is

Cognitive empathy is logically understanding that someone is upset and that's a bad thing. Think someone really disliking something you like. You don't feel the same way as them, and you might not even understand why they feel that way, but you understand that they don't like it

Emotional empathy is second hand emotions. Like cringing when you see something embarrassing on tv

Compassionate empathy is the drive to help someone who is suffering

People with low/no empathy naturally lack emotional empathy, but they can utilize their cognitive and compassionate empathy just as well as anyone else

While they can't feel with other are feeling, they can understand and offer love and support!

#I know this is a tangent but lower empathy people are constatly shit on #i just wanna take any excuse to lift up my fellow dorks with empathy issues. hello from the other side of the scale my friends #rus chatters #gem of compassion would of been worlds better #people with low empathy can also stuggle with cognitive empathy and emotional empathy. but that doesn't stop them from being compassionate #it usually just means that they have naturally low emotional empathy and are some flavor of neurodiverseand stuggle to understand others #btw. Tecna is a great example of a low empathy person. she reminds me a lot of my low empathy friends
