Had my last work day in the customs post office today after 9 months. Feels weird. But I am happy to be away from this place.
People were nice and chill but also very gossipy and it is the most low intelligence boomer place ever. Srsly from all the jobs I had the past years this is the worst in that regard. You could probably find a whole crowd for a conspiracy & phobes rally in those halls. Like literally about 90% of the people in there are just straight up dumb or ignorant. (and of course alcoholics and sexual harassments gets just shrugged off like “lol dude xy came to work again reeking like beer” damn funny if they operate heavy machines and cars inside the halls... and that one dude sends D pics to all the female coworkers which is totally disgusting but funny to gossip over I guess...)
Even today I had to listen to crap like “ALL asian people literally eat EVERYTHING (which is disgusting, dumb and evil because they ALL also eat animals that are still alive ... ALL asians do that). But they also eat rice everyday” + some insults towards their visuals and their ‘low intelligence’..... And these employees handle packages from all over asia every day for years... None of them has any clue of what they are looking at when they open packages. The amounts of times I had to explain stuff to them or simply just had to translate english for them!!! Or even show them how google translator works... how google works..... how the computer structure or phone camera works (we take photos of the content of packages for the work process and documentation)....
Also... since a few weeks the customs employees including the customs officials are after manga... because they now noticed that some manga contain sex scenes. duh.... BUT now they all treat manga like it’s some disgusting japan pro.n stuff we have to shield the society and children from... The way they tried to tell me about it, them not knowing that I literally read manga since age 13 lol..... And I am sitting there listening to the most ridiculous ideas. (the shocked confused face from that one woman when I said I read manga). Thing is LEGALLY they can’t just say “Oh there are naked people in this comic we declare this is now an 1 8 + item which requires the recipient to show their ID in order to get their package” THAT’S NOT HOW AGE RESTRICTION WORK HERE. There are literally official authorities department for this whicj has EDUCATED (I hope) people, lawyers etc who check every requirement and potential danger. And not some old customs farts who never got in touch with japanese entertainment nor even with japanese culture but are now shocked to see that sometimes there are b00bs, Ds and va-jj’s in manga they think is for kids only.....
They treat collectors figurines from anime and games the same ignorant way. First of all they categorize them as toys fpr CHILDREN because....??? And then they see “Oh this big titted girl in this sexy pose has kind of a petite face. This is definitely child pr.onography by this freak country!!!”
Their minds would explode if they would see real life japanese (womens) faces, which often look naturally younger compared to western faces due to different facial structure.... But besides that... the fact alone that they see it all as children toys and comics is just dumb on it’s own... Like they basically just have the “children comic” or “perverted 1 8 + content” options in their mind. And that’s also the only thing they look for. The fact that there could be stories with full on gore or body horror doesn’t cross their minds. Na, they just check for the pervert stuff. Make it make sense at least?!?!?!
I appreciated the 2-3 good folks in that work place. One I keep in touch with. And I appreciate the fact that I now have a lot of dumb stories about customs officials and the post office and can totally justify why outside people are annoyed and angered by customs departments methods and behavior all the times. Because yes, they are indeed dumb af in there (in germany at least)... sad but true.
Also commuting was a big waste of time every day, hygiene and safety was horrible in that company as well. I will not miss it at all.

Last week I talked about Kickstarter, which is one of the ways we’re making and getting our game worlds out to you, and so this week, let’s look at some of our other venues – because they are evolving as well!
First, there’s DriveThruRPG.com, which is still our primary sales partner when it comes to PDFs and physical books printed on demand. We also use DTRPG‘s servers for distributing Backer PDFs to our Kickstarter backers as needed.
DTRPG is an excellent fit for our business as keeping books on an eternal virtual bookshelf frees us up from paying for warehouse space for every book, plus they’re great to work with, and take care of the two types of ways you can get our projects: PDFs and PoDs.
They continue to improve their set-up, and in fact, are migrating to cloud-based servers right now. They are working on bringing regular features back on line – including PoD ordering. So, if you have a slow-down or can’t get onto the site; that’s the reason. Try again, and rest assured they’ll be done their server migration bug-fixing very soon.

Next, and I’m basically talking about these in the order we started working with them, are our friends at Indie Press Revolution aka IPR.
We started working with IPR as a way for us to offer the various Deluxe or Prestige Kickstarted projects for sale after we shipped the KS backers their rewards. We always print more books than we have backer rewards so that we can replace damaged or lost rewards, and any extras past those we send to IPR.
Over the years, they have also started offering some of the books we’ve Kickstarted in order to get them into stores on their site, where retailers as well as individuals like yourselves can order our projects.
Here’s the Onyx Path Publishing page on IPR‘s site: https://www.indiepressrevolution.com/xcart/Onyx-Path-Publishing/ And the list of stores that carry games via IPR: https://www.indiepressrevolution.com/xcart/Stores.html If someone’s local store is listed already, they just need to remind them and maybe place an order with them. If someone’s local store is not listed, they can have them check out the Retailer FAQ: https://www.indiepressrevolution.com/xcart/IPR-Prospective-Retailer-FAQ.html So, if a local game store has not ordered from IPR before they can set up an account and order directly from them. The above FAQ link will help answer a few questions and they can get started here: https://www.indiepressrevolution.com/xcart/Retailer-Information.html
So, with IPR you can make an order, or you can ask your retailer to do so, and they have info and tools to help you make that happen. Right now, as pictured with this blog, and noted below in the Blurbs!, IPR has both the Deluxe Changeling: The Dreaming 20th Anniversary Edition, and the Deluxe Beckett’s Jyhad Diary just coming available!
So if you missed out on their KSs, or have heard great things about either or both books, now’s your chance to own them!
Geist 2e illustration by the legendary John Cobb.
Studio2 gets mentioned a lot lately with our shift in running Kickstarters to get our game books traditionally printed and into retail stores. Their ability to fulfill sending out KS backer rewards and strong distribution network has made working with them an excellent choice for Onyx Path.
The fact that they handle all the fixes that come out of shipping thousands of backer rewards per Kickstarter in an efficient and friendly way means that they complement James’ customer service efforts with our KSs. Which I certainly appreciate, and I hope backers do as well.
We have been building up our “best practices” with Studio2 for over a year (or is it two?) with our creator-owned books, and then Changeling: The Lost 2e, and not long now that will all pay off with our Scion 2e double feature of Scion Origin and Scion Hero.
Which will be the largest ship-out and the first time an Onyx Path owned game line is made available for distribution and retail for us by Studio2, so we’re pretty excited to see how it all works out!
Trinity Continuum: Aeon illustration by Grzegorz Pedrycz.
So those are the three sales partners we’re using to get our projects out to you. All can be contacted by retailers interested in stocking our books, with more and more of our projects being traditionally printed and available through distribution.
Then we have our efforts on Amazon, with our fiction going up there ready for your Kindle, or over at B&N and for the Nook. Now that we’re putting books out via Studio2, you’ll also see those books available on Amazon. There are also the storefronts for the online gaming venues like Fantasy Grounds where you’ll find Scarred Lands material suitable for use while online gaming.
Expect that our methods will evolve and change in those venues too, as we get more familiar with what people are looking for. That’s one of the reasons that we are experimenting with Matthew Dawkins reading the opening to the Scarred Lands novel Vigilant. (Available for free on DTRPG or on our YouTube channel). We wonder if some audio books might not fit into folks’ busy lives.
Because, at the end of the day, we want to be able to offer folks a chance to explore our worlds, in whatever method they find best for enjoying them. We’re always following those paths as they all lead to one:
Many Worlds, One Path!
BLURBS!
KICKSTARTER:
NEXT UP! We’ll be starting the Kickstarter for the Deluxe version of EX3‘s Lunars on February 12th at 2pm Eastern US time – so don your beast forms and let loose a howl (or snarl or squawk or hiss) to let everyone know it’s coming!

If YOU have a podcast, YouTube or Twitch channel, or talk about games on a blog or other website, and want to perform actual plays or make reviews of our games, please reach out to the Gentleman Gamer on the Onyx Path forum. From there we’ll share emails and get you started, so when you do start producing content we’ll be able to promote it on our blog and YouTube channel!
First, let’s get our content out of the way! Matthew Dawkins continues to run They Came from Beneath the Sea! for the good folks of Red Moon Roleplaying. This game sees They Came From taking a more horrifying, Lovecraftian angle to the camp and farce many expect of it. Episode 2 can be found both here https://youtu.be/gV3LJbdZHPM and in audio format on redmoonroleplaying.com
Additionally, Matthew continues to run his Scion story dubbed Tokyo Noir, in which four Scions explore the dark side of Tokyo in search of a killer who appears to be cutting their victims up into kanji-shaped chunks. Matthew is running this game with direct input from the people commenting on his videos, so hop on board if you want a say on how this story goes: https://youtu.be/DUN11k5d9Ms
Bearing a special mention is the incredibly well-received Onyx Pathcast from last week, in which our hosts performed a deep dive into the nihils of Wraith: The Oblivion: http://theonyxpath.com/episode-37-a-harrowing-deep-dive-into-wraith-the-oblivion/
We’ve also dug into a few shows you may have missed, such as Polyhedron‘s actual play of Trinity Continuum: Aeon, from late last year: https://player.fm/series/polyhedron-a-rpg-discussion-podcast/polyhedron-plays-trinity-continuum-aeon-the-legion-wants-you-ep-1
But here’s a more recent offering from the excellent team at High Level Games, who have started uploading their actual play of Pugmire: https://www.highlevelgames.ca/podcastingnetwork/pugmire-actual-play-episode-1
Please check any of these out and let us know if you find or produce any actual plays of our games!
ELECTRONIC GAMING:
As we find ways to enable our community to more easily play our games, the Onyx Dice Rolling App is now live! Our dev team has been doing updates since we launched based on the excellent use-case comments by our community, and this thing is both rolling and rocking!
ON AMAZON AND BARNES & NOBLE:
You can now read our fiction from the comfort and convenience of your Kindle (from Amazon) and Nook (from Barnes & Noble).
If you enjoy these or any other of our books, please help us by writing reviews on the site of the sales venue you bought it from. Reviews really, really help us with getting folks interested in our amazing fiction!
Our selection includes these fiction books:

Correction: Grab And Go Shopping story
SAN FRANCISCO — In a story Feb. 8 about retailers adopting technology to allow shoppers to buy goods without waiting in line, The Associated Press misspelled the name of a provider of checkout-free shopping technology. The company is Grabango, not Grabandgo.
A corrected version of the story is below:
Retailers are shopping for ways to get rid of checkout lines
Grab a soda and go: Convenience stores embracing cashier-less shopping
By MICHAEL LIEDTKE and JOSEPH PISANI
AP Business Writers
Get ready to say good riddance to the checkout line.
A year after Amazon opened its first cashier-less store, startups and retailers are racing to get similar technology in stores throughout the world, letting shoppers buy groceries without waiting in line.
If they work, cashier-less stores will not only save time but maybe money too, for both cost-cutting merchants and customers whose shopping habits are dissected.
From cameras and sensors, the stores will know when shoppers pick up a product and put it down, and can send them a discount to tempt them to buy it. Merchants will be able to create more space for merchandise, better track when shelves need replenishing and draw more business from the hordes of customers who detest long lines.
But the monitoring system underlying cashier-less technology is bound to raise new privacy issues and worries about customer data falling into the wrong hands, especially if stores deploy facial recognition software in the omnipresent cameras watching shoppers.
“It could be scary, and it could be creepy,” says Peter Trepp, CEO of FaceFirst, a Los Angeles company that so far has only sold its facial recognition tools to retailers trying to identify shoplifters and other criminals. “But if it’s used to give people a 30 per cent coupon on something they want that is going to be a nice benefit. That kind of experience will help people embrace the technology.”
Amazon has a head start in the U.S., opening 10 convenience stores in three cities: Chicago, San Francisco and Seattle. The stores sell salads and sandwiches for lunch, everyday items like toilet paper and Advil, and groceries such as Cheerios and raw ground beef.
Shoppers scan an app to enter the Amazon Go store, grab what they want and walk out. Cameras and sensors on the ceiling track what’s taken so their credit or debit cards are automatically charged when they leave. Shoppers will know how long it took to shop, since Amazon sends an alert with their shopping time.
“It was just a phenomenal experience,” said Tom Hadfield, who bought a Coke Zero in a minute and five seconds at one of the Go stores in San Francisco while visiting the city recently.
Hadfield, who runs a technology startup in Austin, Texas, said it reminded him of the first time he rode an Uber.
“You just know it’s going to be the future,” he said.
Amazon doesn’t say how much money its cashier-less stores make. But analysts from RBC Capital Markets recently visited Amazon Go’s two San Francisco stores to come up with a number. Based on their observations of traffic patterns, they estimated about 400 to 700 customers per day will visit each of the roughly 2,000-square-foot Amazon Go stores, generating sales of $1.1 million to $2 million annually, assuming an average purchase of $10. At the high end of that range, it works out to twice the sales of a typical U.S. convenience store, RBC calculated.
Several startups are pitching technology to retailers who want to create Amazon Go-like stores of their own. One of the companies, called AiFi, says it has signed deals with the Carrefour chain in France and Zabka convenience stores in Poland. Others, including Zippin, Grabango, Trigo Vision and Inokyo, say they are negotiating deals with retailers in the U.S. and other parts of the world, although none are ready to identify them yet.
“Once a few big retail chains begin to deploy this technology, it’s going to snowball and we will see more and more of them doing it,” says Michael Suswal, co-founder of Standard Cognition, another cashier-less technology startup.
So far, companies working on the technology are finding ways to do without facial recognition. Their systems rely on cameras for identifying objects rather than people. Like Amazon, they rely on tailored smartphone apps to identify who is entering the store and to process the sale for whatever products are taken.
Both Standard Cognition and Zippin opened small stores in San Francisco last year that have held invitation-only demonstrations or been open for limited hours with a scant selection of merchandise.
“I like the idea of being able to come into a store, grab what you want and just walk out,” says Tomonori Nishimura, a 30-year-old researcher for Fujitsu Laboratories after getting a bag of Funyuns at Standard’s small store in San Francisco recently.
Amazon appears the most likely to make cashier-less stores a more common sight, partly because it can afford to open stores with the technology already built into them, given its current market value of about $800 billion — ranking among the most valuable companies in the world.
But the country’s biggest retailers are also trying to speed up the shopping process. Sam’s Club, the warehouse-style club owned by Walmart, opened a test store in Dallas that has no cashiers. Instead, shoppers use their smartphones to scan products and pay. 7-Eleven is testing something similar at 14 stores in Dallas.
“Waiting in line is torture,” says 7-Eleven’s Gurmeet Singh, the company’s chief digital officer and chief information officer.
Though, he added, there are no plans to get rid of cashiers. He wants people to have a choice on how they pay.
As cashier-less stores become more common, there will likely be more political pressure to ensure they still offer an option to pay by cash to avoid discriminating against lower-income consumers without bank accounts and credit cards. In anticipation of that likelihood, Standard Cognition already has set up a separate kiosk for all-cash purchases in its test store.
RBC believes Amazon eventually will also introduce its cashier-less technology in its Whole Foods supermarkets, though Amazon says it has no plans to do so. For now, Amazon seems to have its eye on smaller stores: Late last year it introduced a 450-square-foot version of Amazon Go that can be plopped into office buildings or hospitals, like a walk-in vending machine.
“Within five years, I think just about everyone will have experienced what autonomous checkout is like,” says Suswal of Standard Cognition. “And within 10 years, regular checkout stands will be very rare.”
——
Pisani reported from New York.

This story has been revised to correct the spelling of the last name of Standard Cognition’s co-founder to Suswal from Suswai.

Amazon A9 Algorithm
Amazing and very informative guide on Amazon Niche sites. When I first got started, I had no clue how to get traffic to my Amazon affiliate links, rank on the first page of Google, and select products that people WANTED to buy. At seoforrank, we offer precise service on Amazon SEO on the Amazon product search engine and set up Amazon PPC Campaigns to get more exposure to your listings.
In most cases, when Amazon does not report a sales rank to Sales Rank Express, it means the item has yet to make a sale and earn any rank at all—so Sales Rank Express says No Rank.” But Amazon also withholds sales ranks of all free Kindle books, leaving Sales Rank Express no way to know whether those books have ranks or not. So optimizing to rank higher in Amazon's search engine is the key to getting traffic to your product listing page and selling more volume. There are 54 million Amazon Prime members That's important if you're interested in selling on Amazon not only because it represents the size of the market, but also because you can ship your products to those people in just two days if you use Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA).
Our service is Rank up Amazon Product on Amazon 1st Page or Top #1-10 Position. Amazon product ranking depends on wishlists and It is one of the best part for amazon product ranking. Amazon listing optimization alone often isn't enough for new products.
I used those to find my product and supplier, and now I'll use this article to rank that product on Amazon. You now know exactly what metrics Amazon is looking at to rank listings in their industry-leading product search engine. But I would definitely not use any customer reviews from Amazon at all.
My page rank is currently 1 and I'm trying to figure out what else to do. I blog daily I have a couple of good high page rank back links, but I can't get my page rank to mover from 1. The higher the number, the more competitive the keyword is to rank for in organic search. Rank your product on amazon top page by white hat method and latest amazon TOS and increase your sale.
We will use amazon search algorithm that is A9 algorithm as well as white hat SEO to rank your product on first page of amazon by safe way. I show you how to rank an Amazon review video on the first page of Google in a few short minutes. I might just get back into SEO & building affiliate websites.
In fact, one of my niche sites rank above both of them for a fairly competitive keyword. I just joined the Amazon Associate program about 3 months ago. However, since Amazon doesn't include the cost of shipping for itself and its fulfillment partners, the rankings on that page can be misleading.
The way to win on Amazon is to rank for keywords and within specific Kindle categories. A relatively noncompetitive product will rank on page 1 with just our optimisation strategies, highly competitive products require more sales and reviews to rank in the top results. Duplicate listings may well show up during normal searches on Amazon or in Sales Rank Express.
As a sales rank checker, Sales Rank Express is designed for quick, up-to-the-minute checking of Amazon sales rank (or ranking) worldwide. Do you have any more tips about optimizing your Amazon product pages? You can use tools such as Merchant Words, Google Keyword Planner and Simple Keyword Inspector to find relevant keywords for your product type and to estimate search volume.
Your returning customers will want to see your latest collection. Today I want to share 11 tips on what I've learned in making money blogging from the Amazon Associates Program. In this post I want to share what I've learned along the way on how to make money with Amazon.
And if you optimize that content in a right way will help us to rank higher in google and other search engines. Very good simple tips to rank high in google page.Thank you for sharing the stuff. I would like some more help in trying to make my website gain a higher page rank.
We will use amazon search algorithm to rank your product that is A9 algorithm. Mainly we will work for your amazon niche or any kind of website to rank on google. The Amazon search engine wants shoppers to find their desired products quickly - and so will generally rank products with a low CR lower than others.
Your Amazon affiliate site is only as good as your content. Creating a site that reviews every single Amazon product under the sun isn't going to do anyone any good. You can even search by the number of results that were found on Amazon for each keyword.
KIPRT basically lets you search Amazon Products by using numbers, which you can't do on Amazon. That keyword will find your product then will ranked your product on that keywords. Amazon search algorithm depends on customers who likes products and people choice products daily.
I also deserve the Knowledge of Amazon PPC ads and keyword researching using merchant words and keyword inspector. Since this is a guide about ranking products in Amazon, it makes sense to start at the source. One of my biggest goals is to get my Amazon income up in the few thousand per month level - and I'm currently working hard on my current Amazon sites, trying to get them to rank.
Google is always making things harder on us. But I'm here to tell you that building niche sites to rank in Google to earn Amazon affiliate income still works. Now, I'm not going to get into exactly how the FBA program works and how you can make money by using it. But the gist of what I am doing is outsourcing relevant products from China for a low price and then selling those products on Amazon for a higher price. Of course, writing a guide on the best cheap products in a niche will only really be valuable if the cheapest products in a niche are still relatively expensive.
Keyword research is an important process in your Amazon product launch. So, today I learnt that Amazon's algorithm has a name; A9. I knew our product pages were key to search results, but didn't quite understand exactly how Amazon mines our product page data and uses that data to determine where our products appear in searches. If you have a product that has 100 reviews that average 4.5 stars, you can command a higher price on Amazon since people will generally favor products that are highly rated, have a lot of reviews, and are shipped out of Amazon warehouses (qualifying for Amazon Prime).
At first, Erkavun's listings on Amazon were similar to her eBay listings — one page for each product that customers could page through at leisure. Though it would be possible for Sales Rank Express to re-sort the results by sales rank, this could be done only for one page of up to ten matches at a time as Amazon sends it. This would mean that the order would be correct within each page, but not always between pages. But Sales Rank Express relies on Amazon to sort the results sent to you, and unfortunately, Amazon does not offer sorting by sales rank.
But it doesn't receive enough data from Amazon to show it when you use the Get Versions” or Get Pairings” buttons. Amazon sales rank for all books is now updated once an hour. GET AMAZON SALES RANKS!” This tells Sales Rank Express to go check Amazon sales ranks and other info.
Yes, Amazon is going to charge you a commission for selling products on its site. Also, Amazon's SEO rankings are based on how many products you sell, the optimization of the product and the reviews. Note that if you're using Fulfilled by Amazon (FBA) shipping, you can ship the products directly to Amazon's fulfillment center.
Something I learned from your situation is that even selling used books on Amazon could potentially cause an account close down. Three products ranking in top 3 for main volume keywords for the niche and ranking #1 for lesser volume keywords. But actually, that's not quite correct as bloggers (and affiliate sites) are also your competitors.
Clearly, it definitely applies to results from a search in Amazon's search bar, but if you think about it, it could also correlate with the actual best seller rankings. You can have as many products as you like on your account. We can help any kind of suggestion to promote your product guide and how to increase your product sale and how to marketing your amazon product.
People search product by the keywords and it need to research keyword with high volume. We offer the product ranking in any place on TOP page for any keyword. Product ranking for different keywords on the TOP page is the best way to boost sales.
I track my amazon keyword rankings, so I know that I rank well for several long tail phrases. So if 10 different shoppers visit the product listing page and 3 of them make a purchase, the CR is 30%.The higher the CR, the higher the purchase likelihood of a product (for that keyword). If shoppers continually click on a product but then click away without making a purchase, the Amazon ranking algorithm will take that low CR into account and rank the product lower for that keyword in turn. This theme is completely geared towards selling products in the Amazon marketplace.
Every day, millions of potential customers utilize Amazon or Ebay marketplace to find products and services, and will only click products on the first page of Amazon or ebay search engine results. I think Amazon search algorithm depends on customers who likes products and people choice products daily. Hey Vikas, I contacted Amazon & they told me their program only applies to people creating a product.
Really great article, one of the most detailed and useful posts out there on how to rank on Amazon within the Amazon walls. They will forget about your site once they get to Amazon. I'm in the Amazon affiliate site game myself, and currently waiting for 2 of my sites to rank.
So before I get to my thoughts on why Amazon niche sites are the best way for someone to get started making money online today, and how exactly I've been able to do it, I wanted to provide just a couple of screenshots from my Amazon account.

Bit of a “meta” start for this edition of the MMN, as I just want to let folks in on how our Monday Meeting is running and the sort of topics generally covered, and the specific ones we talked about this week. Except for the [REDACTED] ones.
Bit o’ history, for folks coming new to this blog.
The Monday Lunch Meeting was once a meeting the entire staff of White Wolf was able to have for something like the first six months I was at WW mid- 1992. As the company grew, we went from everybody attending, to some departments spinning off to other days as the sheer number of people made it impossible, but Production & Design, my department, kept to Mondays.
I liked, and still like, starting the week with what is essentially a huddle. A re-focus moment before the week pulls us in all sorts of directions. In the early days, we’d actually divvy up tasks at the meeting to be sure everything we needed to accomplish in the coming week was covered. Even when all that was left of WW in terms of publishing TTRPGs was Eddy Webb and myself, we actually ate lunch during the meeting still, until I founded Onyx Path and brought the company-wide Monday Meeting back.
Dragon Blooded Kingfisher illustration by Mel Uran
So, through all the years we come to our current Monday Lunch Meeting, although there have been evolutionary changes to our process:
1- We are a virtual office, with folks scattered around who attend, so we’re “starting off on Monday” even if Matthew’s day is actually getting close to sundown.
2- For a similar reason, nobody is required to eat lunch during the meeting, and with us all on Skype it’s really best if folks don’t do much munching and crunching.
3- Therefore, nobody waits until folks are midway through a Subba Wubba sandwich to tell us how the Andes plane crash survivors turned cannibals. In detail. Until some folks turned green.
4- Onyx Path has now grown to such a point that we have nine people in on the call, so in the interest of staying focused, we’ve recently adopted a process where the first hour of the meeting is the Production half, where we run down every project being worked on. You see most of that list in the Updates here every week. Then we move to Operations, and we review sales info, marketing, social media and PR, and new business.
5- Everyone is encouraged to both venture opinions and to bring up anything they feel is pertinent, and to absolutely speak up if they need clarification. The main purpose of the meeting is to provide everyone with knowledge of where Onyx Path is on that Monday, and what we need to do for the rest of the week, or even further out.
6- Usually, I’ll derive the points I want to write about in this blog every week from the general drift of our interests and concerns at the Monday Meeting, although, as our crew knows, sometimes I’ll zoom in on something related but not directly discussed if I think it makes a good subject.
C20 Freeholds illustration by Pat McEvoy
This week, here’s some highlights of what we discussed:
I threw a whole bunch of project pitches at White Wolf for approvals, and we’re waiting for the OK or notes from them.
We also sent over another bunch of project outlines for approvals as well, and we’re also waiting for those to get back to us. Both of these steps are the ones before the steps you see below in the Updates, and are basically the developers preparing the info they need in order to hire writers.
Speaking of outlines, we have a bunch almost done for the upcoming Scion projects that came out of the Kickstarter Stretch Goals. Neall really couldn’t finalize them until the text for both Origin and Hero was complete.
Dixie has been touching base with “her” developers for the CofD and Exalted 3rd, and working with them on their schedule of releases, and she’ll be doing her first errata input pass on the next book ready for that stage, either Night Horrors: Enemy Action or the Beast PG.
We sat down last week and conceptualized the release schedule for the Trinity Continuum lines, now that we have a much more concrete idea of our Trinity community interest and numbers after the Kickstarter. Thinking through how the Continuum can be represented by Community Content is an added, and welcome, piece to that process. Now we’re arguing about which actual titles the TC Core and TC: Aeon should have!
Some writers are late, some artists needed replacing, some editing is getting swapped around, and some projects are holding up other ones. So, situation normal, and we adjust to this every Monday!
We expect Wraith20 errata to close sometime between this Weds. and next Weds. and we’ll see if  Night Horrors: Enemy Action and the Beast PG also fit that time frame.
Mirthful Mike is starting on the graphics for the Dragon Blooded Kickstarter for later this month, and we’re looking for James’ to present his plan for the KS based on earlier conversations. I’ll be asking James to establish address change and shipping deadlines right in our KS description and FAQs, because we continue to have backers message us two years after shipping wanting their books – and we just aren’t set up to have these books sitting around indefinitely. We really hate disappointing people.
The Mirthful One is also designing the logo for the Scarred Lands Community Content site, the Slaracian Vault. Once that is finished we’ll be stress testing the site. Eddy is also looking at opening up a few aspects of Canis Minor, the Pugmire Community Content site, so keep an eye out there.
For the Scarred Lands Kickstarter, as backers are aware, we’ve just had the damnedest time pulling together all the threads that my old friend Stewart Wieck left dangling after his untimely death, but with a few adjustments we and Nocturnal Media have almost everything needed in the fulfillment shipper’s warehouse. While they are arranging the shipping, I’m going to send out the Scarred Lands posters from the Kickstarter individually to those who pledged for them.
Mighty Matt McElroy wants everybody to know that we have shipped a whole truck-load of extra Kickstarter projects to our friends at Indie Press Revolution (IPR), including the Prestige Edition and Screen of Dark Eras (the first one), the Deluxe and Ultra-Deluxe Editions of Exalted 3rd Edition and a whole lot of the additional items, and the Deluxe Edition and Screen for W20 Shattered Dreams. (See more info and links below in the IPR section of the Blurbs!)
Matt also pointed out that the Beast Players’ Guide and Night Horrors: Enemy Action PDFs have been #1 and #2 on DTRPG‘s bestsellers list these past couple of days! Congrats to all involved!
Although we have, as a company, pulled away from monitoring social media beyond our own – as per one of our wellness resolutions from our MidWinter Summit – we do go over any posts that concern us. So we did today. As usual, this isn’t an area that I like us to wade into publicly, but I include it to show that we don’t just ignore internet comments.
We learned in our meeting that our in-house developers (Eddy, Dixie, and Matthew) really like to talk. So we discussed how we could maybe give them a place where they can talk as much as they want…
Scarred Lands Spiragos illustration by Brian LeBlanc
So you can see, that these notes are indeed pulled from the Monday Meeting each week, and while you could say our motto should be “Many Words, One Path”, it is in fact:
Many Worlds, One Path!
    BLURBS!
KICKSTARTER:
Our next Kickstarter is slated to be EX3‘s Dragon-Blooded near the end of March.
As we try and find ways to enable our community to more easily play our games, the Onyx Dice Rolling App is now live! Our dev team has been doing updates since we launched based on the excellent use-case comments by our community, and this thing is both rolling and rocking!
The devs have added a whole bunch of new game lines’ dice and rolling bg’s and got caught by a bug Apple needed to fix, so be sure to update your app and soon that should be fixed.
There’s been tweaks to all elements of the UI, you can now preview every die type in the store, and you can use multiple die types per roll! Here are the links for the Apple and Android versions:

    DRIVETHRURPG.COM:
Coming this Wednesday as both PDF and physical book PoD on DTRPG, we reveal The Secret of Vinsen’s Tomb, a Jumpstart adventure for Pugmire. www.drivethrurpg.com/product/232337/The-Secrets-of-Vinsens-Tomb–A-Pugmire-Jumpstart
A cat living in Pugmire disappears, but neither the police dogs nor the cats of the Cat Quarter know why. When zombies attack the heroes, however, all signs point to an invasion by the Monarchies of Mau. But how does this intrigue tie into the lost tomb of the first king of Pugmire?
The Secret of Vinsen’s Tomb is a Pugmire story for three to six characters. This jumpstart contains all the rules and characters you need to play — just grab some dice and go! You can also use this adventure with the full version of Pugmire.
The Secret of Vinsen’s Tomb contains:
• An evocative and mysterious setting that’s both family friendly and deep enough to create compelling stories.
• A summary of Pugmire’s traditional fantasy rules system. It’s designed for streamlined play, with an emphasis on cooperation and action over competition and violence.
• A complete adventure for a Guide to run for three to six players. Also useful for Guides running a full Pugmire game of first or second level characters!
• Six ready-to-play characters, so you can jump into the action.
Can your good dogs discover the secret of Vinsen’s Tomb?
Also available this Wednesday, are two physical PoD spell card packs and PDFs for Pugmire: the Artisans‘ and the Shepherds‘ spells.
Ask the darkness, and it shall answer: the Beast: The Primordial Player’s Guide Advance PDF will answer your questions when it goes live on DTRPG.com this Wednesday!
The Beast Player’s Guide expands on the material presented in Beast: The Primordial, with additional information on the Families and Hungers, what it feels like to be a Beast and experience the Devouring, and how to commune with the Dark Mother. You’ll also find two new Families and two new Hungers!
The book also includes a plethora of new Atavisms, Nightmares, Merits, and Birthrights, as well as systems for creating smaller, subservient versions of the Horror, new forms of Inheritance, and details on the mysterious Obcasus Rites.
There are some things that even a Demon fears – Night Horrors: Enemy Action for Demon: The Descent arrives as an Advance PDF this Wednesday on DTRPG.com!
“Fighting the Machine is like fighting the ocean. You literally cannot hurt it. Doesn’t matter how much poison we dump into the ocean. We’ll only kill the things in it. We’ll never kill it. Same with the God-Machine. Kill angels, traitors, stigmatics, cultists, cryptids, whatever, you’ll never hurt the Machine Itself. No, that doesn’t mean we stop trying. You stop trying, you drown. Screw that.”
—Mr. Bliss, Guardian Inquisitor
Night Horrors: Enemy Action includes:
• Dozens of Storyteller characters, including Unchained, angels, exiles, cryptids, and stigmatics, for use as antagonists, allies, or just inspiration
• Multiple plot hooks and story seeds for your Demon: The Descent chronicles
• A brief look at cults in Demon, including the Ten Thousand Names of God, a secret society fueled by the God-Machine
With a howl of RAGE, the W20 Changing Ways PDF and physical book PoD charges at you this Wednesday on DTRPG.com! http://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/229183/W20-Changing-Ways
Changing Ways is an in-depth look at what it means to be a werewolf, both on a personal level and as part of a pack. It digs deep into what it feels like to have bones re-knit after breaking, the range of senses available across all forms, and the sudden heady rush of the Gifts and Rites bestowed by spirits. It also provides a look at what life is like for lupus and metis werewolves, characters who have had experiences alien to any person. It shows the many ways that werewolves organize in packs, and how those packs are designed as groups of warriors, rather than aligned to the behavior of wolves.
Changing Ways contains:
• A detailed look at what it means to grow up as a lupus or metis werewolf, and how that colors a character’s perspective.
• More information on what it feels like to be a werewolf, a creature that changes in both body and mind.
• Frameworks and organizations for packs, along with new tactics and systems for forging the pack as part of play.
Appearing on DriveThruRPG this Wednesday are the PDF and PoD physical book versions of Arms of the Chosen for Exalted 3rd Edition! http://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/226224/Arms-of-the-Chosen
Take up the panoply of legendary heroes and lost ages, and awaken the world-shaking might of their Evocations. Before the dawn of time, the Exalted wielded god-metal blades to cast down the makers of the universe. In an ancient epoch of forgotten glories, Creation’s greatest artificers forged unimaginable wonders and miracle-machines.
Now, in the Age of Sorrows, kingdoms go to war over potent artifacts, scavenger princes risk everything to uncover relics of the past, and the Exalted forge great arms and armor on the anvil of legend. These treasures are yours to master.
Discover the mystical power of the five magical materials and the secrets of creating your own Evocations. Wield weapons of fabled might and don the armor of mythic heroes, making their puissance your own. Claim Creation’s wonders: the miraculous tools of the Chosen, living automatons, flying machines, hearthstones, and more. And unleash the mighty warstriders, titanic god-engines of conquest and devastation, to once more shake Creation with their footfalls.
We unveil Vampire: The Requiem 2e‘s Half-Damned as PDF and PoD versions on DTRPG.com this Wednesday!
http://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/227500/Half-Damned
I love her, she’s family, but I don’t love what she is.
– Antonio Ramírez, dhampir
This book includes:
• An exploration of what it means to be one of the Half-Damned, dhampir, revenants or ghouls.
• Mechanics for creating Half-Damned characters.
• Information for creating and running chronicles using the various Half-Damned character types, both with vampires and alone.
• Information on Half-Damned antagonists for vampire chronicles.
        A Land Where Legends Walk
Drawing enthusiastically on Greek mythology, the revised and re-imagined Scarred Lands nonetheless retains its place as a modern fantasy RPG setting. This is a world shaped by gods and monsters, and only the greatest of heroes can expect to be counted among them. The most populous continent of Scarn, Ghelspad, plays host to vast unexplored regions, hides unsolved riddles from ancient cultures, and taunts adventures with the promise of undiscovered riches hidden among the ruins of older civilizations.
Yet the myths of the Scarred Lands are relatively recent events. The effects of the Titanswar still ripple through the world, and the heroines and villains of many of these stories are part of living memory, if not still living.
The Award-Winning Fantasy Setting Returns
Scarred Lands has been a favorite fantasy setting since the release of the Creature Collection for the d20 System in 2000. In subsequent years, over 40 titles were published for Scarred Lands, making it one of the most fully supported fantasy RPG settings ever and the premiere product line of Sword & Sorcery Studios.
Available in both 5th Edition and Pathfinder compatible versions! PDF and PoD formats available NOW!

We made it!
Here on the very precipice of 2017, the first step of many along the Onyx Path in the new year, I first want to thank all of you for your support these past five years.
That’s right, Onyx Path Publishing is five years old, and 2017 will be our sixth year making books and the worlds featured in them!
And we could not have done it without you. Thanks so much!
The Company in 2017
In a lot of ways, 2016 was our year to build the structure that 2017 will be standing on and building from. We’re going to reap the benefits of last year’s work in this coming year, for sure.
We have a staff of five now, with both Rollickin’ Rose Bailey and Mighty Matt McElroy devoted to tightening our creation process in the coming year so that our talented creative teams can better roll through it in a timely manner without sacrificing quality.
We have several freelance graphic designers to call on this year so that Mirthful Mike Chaney has more options to cover all of our layout needs.
We have our Extended Media teams exploring getting our projects (first fiction) up on Amazon and other electronic publishing venues. They’ve been reading through your comments and emails from the past two weeks and are pulling together a battle plan for how we can help our community play our games on on-lines sites like Roll20 and Fantasy Grounds.
Getting Books in Stores
Last year, we ran three Kickstarters whose purpose was to get the traditionally printed books into game stores, with Scarred Lands, Scion 2e, and Pugmire. This year, we’ll see how that all works out even as we’re running a few more KSs that have the same goal. Plus, we are extending our list of available books being offered by our friends at Indy Press Revolution as both more Deluxe/Prestige books are added, and they distribute the traditionally printed books I mentioned.
(As an aside, some of you may not realize that Indy Press Revolution has both an online store that you can order from as an individual, and are distributors that your Friendly Local Game Store can order from to get a selection of our books into your nearest store. Please let your local game store owner know that IPR is one easy way they can get Onyx Path books for their customers.)
Samedi by Mark Kelly for Lore of the Bloodlines
Convention Appearances
The last couple of years, we’ve been fine-tuning how we deal with convention attendance; do we go, and if so, what is our purpose? Other than smoozing with our fans and fellow RPG creators, of course. Without a warehouse jammed with books like in the old WW days, we have to order and ship anything we hope to sell, so having that rare book from 1995 for sale isn’t something we can really do as an ongoing thing.
What worked all last year was to focus on bringing the new books and other stuff, and re-arranging our booth so that we have more opportunities for demoing and introducing folks to how to play our games. We’ve started linking our booth demoing to the games that are being played in the gaming areas by the Wrecking Crew and other folks playing Onyx Path games, and we expect to more of that in 2017.
Especially since, this year is Gen Con‘s 50th Anniversary, so there is every expectation that the place will be a madhouse. If all goes as planned, we will also be in a booth twice as big as previously, along with our friends at Nocturnal Media; the better to highlight Scarred Lands in Pathfinder and 5e editions.
We’re thrilled to start 2017’s con season at MidWinter Con in Milwaukee next week – check out more info below in the BLURBS! section. And expect to see some sort of Onyx Path representation at even more cons this year coming up.
Kickstarters
Yes. We will do some.
Seriously, we’re continuing to look at Kickstarter not as simply a funding tool, although that is always important, but as a way to involve our community in the creation and outreach for a project. We want each KS to be more like an event that couldn’t happen any other way.
Our biggest experiment actually starts off the year, as we are prepping for the Kickstarter for the Prince’s Gambit casual card game. We’ve simply have never done a card game Kickstarter before, so there is a lot to learn. Should this work out, though, it could open the door for a Werewolf follow-up, and/or at least one of the Pugmire card games Eddy has been cackling madly over.
We have further potential KSs this year for Monarchies of Mau, and then maybe Changeling: the Lost 2nd and/or Hunter: the Vigil 2nd, Cavaliers of Mars, What Fire Hath Wrought: the Dragon Blooded, Deviant, Dark Eras 2, and most certainly the Trinity Continuum. Maybe one or more card games, maybe something new, and maybe something almost 20 years old.

Very Short Looks at Game Lines and Not Schedule Previews
World of Darkness: Like we said in August, in 2017 we’re really going to concentrate on getting the many KS projects we have started out to folks this year when we are still in kind of a natural break between major game lines that are at their 20 year marks. Plus, we’re preparing our ideas for projects that work with the new White Wolf‘s 5th Edition. There is a lot still unknown about all that, so we’ll all see how things develop together!
Chronicles of Darkness: We’ll be continuing the 2nd Editions with CtL2, HtV2, and Geist 2nd as well, and we’re looking at a series of Night Horrors books that bring back that idea of books featuring antagonists and other weirdness for the lines. We’re also looking at a list of projects still in the offing we need to deliver for the existing lines, and maybe a “bluebook” or two.
Exalted 3rd: We’ve been working with the Devs to create a schedule that works, and our team is committed to putting together a regular series of releases for EX3 in 2017. Everyone involved in the monumental task of creating the 3rd Edition core book devoted insane amounts of effort to it, and that very extended effort was exhausting. Time now, though, to get folks the new books they need to keep playing.
Scion 2nd Edition: We’re going to be making and delivering the KS’d projects. Gearing up for even more coolness beyond that.
Trinity Continuum: Kickstarter this year, with two whole lines starting there for the TC core and TC: Aeon.
Scarred Lands: PGs shipped out, along with adventures and the revised Wise and the Wicked. We’ve been talking about a new Creature Collection, if anybody might be interested in that.
Pugmire: Going to get it made and shipped, the KS projects too, and then the next books in the line. (Which we haven’t announced yet in order to focus on the KSd projects). Monarchies of Mau KS’d, and maybe a card game this year. This world has the potential to really go nuts, so we’re keeping a careful eye on both the RPG and the extra projects like the fiction and interactive audio drama adventure.
Cavaliers of Mars: KS’d this year, and we’re expecting a very cool and focused set of projects to come out from that for starters.
New Games and Game Worlds: Yes, we have a bunch in various stages of creation, from accepted pitches to being written. I’m not seeing a rush to release in 2017 next year with all we have happening, but who knows what might change?
Allright, that’s next year in a prophetic nutshell. If 2016 was any indication, any and all of this could be upended by surprise developments, so let’s figure that this is the path so far as we can tell, and start walking it and see where it leads.
It’s going to be fantastic!

You wander the world, sometimes alone, sometimes in the blessed company of your own kind, driven by memories of events and facts you never knew, all in the service of one Great Work…
…to be human.
Humans don’t make it easy, though. The Divine Fire that animates you burns too bright, blinds people, and scorches the land if you linger too long. It masks your disfigurements and makes you appear human, but that mask slips and people see your hideous, true form. The Pilgrimage is a long, difficult road, but it is yours, and you know, somehow, that the salvation of the New Dawn waits at the end.
This book contains:
The complete guide to playing a Promethean in the Chronicles of Darkness
Reimagined Lineages and Refinements, and a redesigned system for Transmutations
A more detailed approached to the Pilgrimage that presents players with more control over their characters’ path
New challenges on the road to humanity, including deranged, greedy alchemists
      CONVENTIONS!
Onyx Path will be at Mid Winter Con 2017 in January in the lovely city of Milwaukee. Come brave the cold wastes to game and cavort with us! Please keep an eye out on the MidWinter site for announcements as to our very special beta test and Play With The Creator special events! http://ift.tt/Lfx9nY
Here are three reasons to attend, if you had any doubts!:
RPG Playing! We have once again convinced Dave Martin and his Wrecking Crew team of game masters to run a vast plethora of Onyx Path games. Everything from World of Darkness to Scion to Cavaliers of Mars and Pugmire, as well as a bunch of Prince’s Gambit casual vampire card game sessions. We have a whole ballroom dedicated to our games this year, so sign up and play.
RPG Playtests! Onyx Path loves to use MidWinter as a sort of test-lab for our games, and this year is no exception! Eddy Webb will be playtesting Monarchies of Mau, the cat follow-up to the smash-hit Pugmire, as well as a couple of card game projects he has been tinkering with. Rose Bailey will be running a playtest sneak-peak of Cavaliers of Mars, and Neall Raemonn Price may have some Scion 2e goodness to share.
The Onyx Path Gang! Yep, a bunch of us will be at MidWinter, and not only will we be at the intimate Onyx Q&A listed during the events, but we’ll be at our booth in the sales area, at other events, hanging out in our gaming room with the Wrecking Crew, or just sitting back and chatting around the hotel. MidWinter is a great venue to speak with us as it is nowhere near as hectic as GenCon, and we have fewer business commitments. So look for me, Rose, Eddy, Neall, Monica, Matt McElroy, and a bunch of our awesome creative contributors too!

Retailers are shopping for ways to get rid of checkout lines
SAN FRANCISCO — Get ready to say good riddance to the checkout line.
Others, including Zippin, Grabandgo, Trigo Vision and Inokyo, say they are negotiating deals with retailers in the U.S. and other parts of the world, although none are ready to identify them yet.
