I put an ssd in my shitty bargain bin laptop that has been continuously throttled at 100% disk usage since about 2019 and it's like fucking magic. it can boot, handle webpages, and navigate the file system without hanging. it can passably play some games I never expected it to be able to.

I've been gushing about her to anyone who will listen all day I'm so proud

#the cpu is still one that was already outdated garbage when I bought it and it only has ~4gb ram plus integrated graphics #so it's not running crysis anytime soon #but it's now a functional tumblr machine lol #and it can do lower spec games perfectly fine #I played a bit of civ 6 on it earlier and it got ~30 fps on min settings so that seems to be about the limit #but it got through worldgen and stuff in <5 minutes which is pretty good
