Hello! I would like asking your opinion about the canon/ non canon issue. This is something that recently is becoming a very hard division and that’s is bothering me a lot. I mean when I was younger, watching an anime even the storyline was not as I expected was not a big deal to me. But now it seems that if a person doesn’t like the plot and reads fanfictions about a parallel universe that’s is not let’s say happily accepted by people who have the luck to enjoy the canon version. Usually they tell me that most of the people like the official story and that is enough to say it is a waste of time to thing to something different. Also the authors in general seems dislike the fact that people change their products with their “what if” and so on. I’m starting quitting anime at a certain point when I realize I would like different scenarios, but maybe this is a shame. The internet tempest us of official arts, gadgets…. And they make my dislike worse. I enjoy a lot all your posts and I really think you have a gift in writing, so if possible I would like having your opinion about it. Thank you!
Hello!! Sorry for the late reply, life's been busy 😊😊
My advice would be to enjoy whatever brings you happiness. Fandoms aren’t always the nicest place, and you can’t always please everyone, but I think it’s natural at some point, there would be some plots you are not going to enjoy. And if you find solace in fanfiction, it’s not a waste of your time. I think it’s nice to imagine different outcomes of the story you are following, and you’re not hurting anyone by doing so.
I haven’t seen anything about authors disliking fanfiction based on their work lately, but I think they should be flattered someone loved their characters so much that they felt inspired to delve into them more. Plus, fanfiction also contributes to keeping a series popular and fandoms alive.
I’m not sure if you’re the same person who also DMed me, but the answer is no. Even if another Levi ship becomes canon, it won’t make me change my mind. Whether the author intended that or not, the way he wrote those characters made me imagine there was something more going on between the two of them. And even if they are endgame only in the fanfiction pieces I’m reading, I’m never going to regret shipping them.
And thank you!! ❤️
