På "nya" stigar

Tog en ny cykeltur i morse, och trampade inledningsvis mot Sövde, där jag sedan svängde in på Sövdemöllevägen som jag följde en bit. Därefter in på en liten oansenlig stig längs en hage det brukar gå får i. Trampade vidare på den och kom så småningom in i skogen igen, och kunde där följa Klingavälsån, fram till en enkel träbro som jag följde. Följde sedan stigen som så småningom ledde fram till…

Storkprojektet är inte ett smultronställe utan flera eftersom verksamheten finns på flera ställen i Skåne. I slutet av juni var vi på ringmärkning i Fulltofta där Storkprojektet i Skåne har ett hägn där man föder upp ungar för att släppa ut. Lördagen den 26 juli släpptes årets unga storkar ut vid Hemmestorps mölla och dessa ungar kommer att flyga till Spanien eller Afrika under hösten och sedan förhoppningsvis komma hem och få fler ungar i frihet för att stärka storkstammen i Skåne. Ovan syns unga storkar i bon som vilda storkar byggt på hägnet vid Hemmestorps mölla. Storkar gillar sällskap och häckar tillsammmans. På nästa bild syns de i fångenskap födda storkarna möta friheten för första gången och upptäcka att man kan flyga högt upp i skyn. 87 storkungar släpptes idag och 80 storkungar har fötts av vilda föräldrar. Förhoppningsvis kommer de att flyga söderut till hösten. För att se bilderna större så klicka på dem.

Carl von Linné fann massor av storkar i Skåne under sin skånska resa 1749 men tyvärr storken försvann från Skåne och Sverige 1954. Storken ses som den en symbol för Skåne på samma sätt som tamgåsen och pilträdet.  I mitten av 1900-talet var de flesta våtmarker i Skåne utdikade och fåglarna kunde inte hitta mat. Men nu har man börjat att återställa våtmarkerna och både i storkhägner och i det vilda har det fötts cirka 170 storkungar i år. Mer information om återinförandet av Vit stork i Skåne finns här.   The theme this week is “wild strawberry field” which means a special place worth visiting. The Swedish program for  the reintroduction of the white stork in Scania is located at several places in Scania. At the end of june we saw the ringing of the stork babies at Fulltofta in the middle of Scania and this saturday we saw the release of this years fledglings at Hemmestorp mill. They will hopefully flie south in the autumn to Spain or Africa and then return to breed and establish a the wild stork in Scania again. One the pictures above shows young storks on nests built by wild storks on the top of the aviary. Storks like company and nests together. The other two pictures show the storks that are born in the aviaries when they discover freedom and that it is possible to soar high in the sky. A very impressive sigth. 87 Young storks were released today and 80 i born in the wild this year and will hopefully move south in the autumn. Click on the pictures to see them full size.

Carl von Linné found lots of storks in Scania during his Scanian journey in 1749 but sadly the stork disappeared from Scania and Sweden in 1954. The stork is seen as the characteristic bird symbol for Scania along with the farm geese. In the middle of the 1900s most wetlands in Scania had been drained and the birds couldn´t find food. But now they have started to restore the wetlands and circa a hundred stork babies are born in the cages this year and circa 70 babies in the wild.
