Alif Mahmud left Bangladesh and traveled to Makkah to complete the Hajj, a life-changing experience. He traveled more than eight thousand kilometers in nine months, overcoming several challenges. He set off on July 8 of last year from his hamlet, Batabaria, in Cumilla's Nangalkot Upazila, and it took him almost 270 days to journey through India, Pakistan, Iran, Iraq, and the United Arab Emirates to reach Makkah. Intrigued by the ancient trade routes, Alif debated between riding and walking to Makkah.
