This is so specific (I say like most of my personal posts aren’t) but it’s absurdly comical how many Victim Advocates (actual professionals, not weirdos claiming they support victims for political clout) are pro-police. How are you gonna be pro-police while hearing how many times police fucked up a dv call and put the victim in harm’s ways? Gross.

#tw domestic violence #i say this like govt victim advocates ever do anything besides mail letters #but even dv shelters that partner with police #fucking don’t? #My boss at the dv shelter was awful (to everyone) towards the end of my time there #but she was progressive in the sense that she said we shouldn’t comply w/ any systems without a warrant #some shelters totally will because they want a good relationship with law enforcement #idk what good that relationship ever does #like I even had a horrible dv situation @ work last month #and my client has been really evasive of police because every time they talk to police the cops are condescending #which feeds into the abusers’ power dynamic because it creates an us (abuser & victim) vs them mentality #how you handle these situations matter assholes
