Good gods. Am I stupid for just now realizing just how accurate and canonical a portrayal Cass (@somerandomdudelmao) has made of Donnie regarding his sickness? Just how CANONICAL IT ALL FEELS AND IS EXACTLY SOMETHING HE WOULD DO

He went out to check his lab to make sure Splinter wasn't going to mess anything up in his lab in "Down With the Sickness"
Only to be ambushed by Splinter and thusly, catching his sickness.

AND IS THE ONLY BROTHER WHO COVERS IT UP IN THIS EP and DOESN'T IMMEDIATELY show signs of being sick like the others!! They BELIEVE him (or sort of brush it off) when he dismisses the bandaid.
For the other brothers, them getting sick is either immediately shown right after contact with Splinter, is very obviously shown they are sick, and that's basically it.
DONNIE however, has the advantage of having LEFT his brothers for a short time, brushed off his interaction with Splinter, and went the LONGEST of being in contact with Splinter withOUT

He made it to the next stage of Splinter's sickness before his brothers realized he was sick.
And sure, in the episode it was played up for the sillies and his own selfish desire for getting to the last stage and obtaining uranium, but wouldn't it also be a bit selfish if he were to, oh I don't know, hide a sickness and deprive his brother of his company all to continue working on upgrades for the resistance? Deny his brothers knowledge of the sickness to not worry them and pretend things are fine? To refuse to lean or depend on them when they WILL fight for him all because he believes he can prepare them for when he's gone?
Tumblr media
Sure it's played up for the sillies, but it's still instinctual for him to hide it up because he deems himself important to, or at least capable of helping, the cause they are collectively working towards...sound familiar?
In short, I'm either looking tooo deep into this episode or Cass is just that much of a genius at writing the turtles.
Either way this has my brain once again rotating around sickatello and it hurts much more now.
