Wait....WAIT a second...those angles, this dialogue concerning peace instead of a fight, Shadow being involved...I’ve seen this exact same scenario before!

Wayyy back in Sonic Universe #1!

Really neat how this time, Shadow is on the receiving end and instead of a retorting with logic that they simply must fight, its him saying he’ll protect those he cares about. I like to believe this is not just coincidence but a call-back to the last time Shadow had a serious confrontation with someone who intends to harm those the Ultimate Lifeform protects.

Also, its neat in general to see how Tracy Yardley has refined his art style since!

Everyone goes all anime-eque once Shadow sets his sights on the Master Emerald and decides its best kept in a G.U.N. vault, and now is when Knuckles has a huge beef with him. The two are poised to fight and that’s what the next issue’s gonna be about, I guess. xP

They go into it a little post-reboot and even more so in the IDW comics, but Rouge and some characters call attention to the fact that Knuckles makes it his mission to live in solitude on a floating island. I dunno, I just like that they call attention to it, considering all the games kinda forgot about it.

Back where we left off, Shadow and Eclipse were about to have their big punch-out! Its much more grand than how I’m saying it, trust me. The character dialogue is still fricking neat, though. Relic’s little “Rude!” at hearing Eclipse’s demeaning monologue. xD

Poor Eclipse, he does bring up points like how Shadow protects other Mobians but his race got the draft. Its just that he either isn’t aware or refuses to believe that the Black Arms were, well, murderous, race-conquering aliens.

A lot of really cool battles between Shadow and Eclipse this issue! Never seen Shadow harness the Master Emerald before, or channel a Chaos Blast through his fist.

They really applied a certain style to this cover. I always admire the way Yardley does shadows, even if their eyes look a little eerie in the process, and that they had to make Shadow’s fur more blue to match Eclipse’s. xD

Yerp, Snively is still plotting behind the scenes even when he’s working for G.U.N. Like most things during this post-reboot world, we never get to see the payoff of “Operation: CONQUEST”, nor what ol’ Sniv plans to do with the Master Emerald, which is a total shame. I would have loved to see how he would be if he bumped into Eggman again.

Also, Snively controlling his G.U.N. telepod with a Mega Drive/Genesis controller is cool.
