Akechi Goro is often found on his own, whether it be because he's studying or he's attending to his duties as the vice-president of Shujin's student council. Because besides when he's with the student council, he has not made many friends nor acquaintances due to his busy schedule.

In which isn't really all that busy, it's more so he doesn't see the point in trying to make friends with people, especially those who once bullied him for his looks. So he uses his schedule as an excuse along with his part-time job that he applied for as a way to have an excuse to leave. Though, he doesn't need it really due to the fact his mother and him both have inherited Shido's fortune within his death.

He's popular as well say the least, far too many chocolates he gets in his locker on valentines day he always groans about to his mother and brother, along with love letters that he always has to reject politely in order to keep an image of being somewhat sociable. Always 'I'm focused on my studies' or 'I'm not ready for a relationship yet' which is somewhat the truth because he doesn't. But at the same time, he's scared, as much as he denies it, that he'll get trapped just like his mother had with his bastard father.

However... when a group called the Phantom Thieves resurface he can't help but wonder, who were these people and why the hell were they using a name that belonged to a group about 7 to 8 years ago?

ALTERNATE TIMELINE WHERE SHIDO IS STILL ALIVE BELOW THE CUT

It was at the age of 13 he stumbled into the metaverse on accident, he hadn't meant to invoke a persona nor intend on accidentally killing on of his father's many pawns. Unfortunately for him, his father figured it out quick and for some reason... he became almost nicer to him, he began to treat him as if he was worth something.

Something which, he'd never done before. And then he realized his father's intentions, he was planning on using Goro to kill people in the shadows for him. He had no choice but to agree to what his father wanted, keeping it a secret from even his mother. Then, that's when he began the plot to murder his father.

With how much pain his mother's gone through, with how much she's taken just for him to have a somewhat good life? It's the least he owes her. But he can't do it as of right now, no he's not adapted to the metaverse and it's rules yet. But the years pass by as he studies under Shido's other metaverse assassins which has been dwindled down to three due to some unknown reasons, he surpasses each and every one of them. He's gotten far too good at it and used to it, and he hates it so much but, anything to help his mom be free of the man.

When he enters Shujin he manages to have some of the best grades and is adored by many, being constantly referred to by his bastard father's last name. And by his third year, despite him often being found on his own he's quite popular for his looks and smarts, and unfortunately + somehow his father. Probably because of how rich they think Goro could be.

This is around the time when he's just about to start exciting the plan to kill his father, an all too familiar name is heard once again,

THE PHANTOM THIEVES. It strikes him as odd, for why did they choose THAT name specifically?

But the moment he hears his phone ring, he knows it's his father on the other line and when he picks it up and hears his father's voice? He knew he was right about what his next mission was.

I wish Zac and Ukyo had interacted properly in canon

They have a lot of the exact same mannerisms but NOT quite the same personality type. They have Two Very DIFFERENT Personality Types that just end up visually presenting extremely similarly. It’s Fascinating™

They are both Extremely Performative...with Ukyo it's because he's apparently awkward and nervous unless he plans out how to present himself in every specific situation ahead of time, and with Zac it's because he just loves attention and thinks lying is funny. But since that same outward appearance of Narcissism and Fussing Over Appearances is there, I think Zac would probably assume that Ukyo is Just Like Him. Specifically, I think Zac would see Ukyo as a threat...until he realized that Ukyo actually fucking HATES The Spotlight™ and is in no way a potential Attention Thief lmao, he is not Akira V2. Being Adored In Public By A Huge Crowd Of Strangers is too unpredictable and overwhelming and Ukyo would be fucking terrified of that because he can't do improv to save his life. His confidence goes up in flames as soon as unpredictability is involved, he’s allergic to Being Too Known, put the ninja back in the nearest dark corner so he can Lurk and Observe. Meanwhile Zac fucking thrives on improv and chaos is his lifeblood. There’s just a night and day difference at the core of their behaviour, in spite of the end results looking visually identical. They manage to have so many similarities in spite of being functionally polar opposites.

I also think Ukyo might be Very Intrigued by Zac, because Zac LOOKS like what Ukyo WANTS to be. That’s a guy who flawlessly presents himself Elegantly And Confidently under metric tons of social pressure and public scrutiny. Zac doesn’t get shy and short-circuit when something surprising happens or Too Many People Look At Him. In fact, it only makes him More Powerful. I feel like Ukyo might Stealthily Ninja-Stalk Zac for awhile, trying to Learn His Secrets and understand how he does it, and I feel like Zac might actually notice him because Zac is pretty sharp and is also probably used to getting tailed around by fans lmao.

It would just be such a fun thing to see these two Experience Eachother's Existence and I'm so sad we never got that. There are so many Possibilities. They would either absolutely adore eachother after a Dramatic Initial Misunderstanding or Zac would destroy Ukyo immediately and I am not sure which. Control Freak vs Chaos Demon FIGHT
