I've been playing Borderlands 3 finally, and while the story in general is a bit meh and the villains are sub-par, I am immensely amused at how differently Vaughn and Rhys ended up.

Like two Hyperion best bros... and Vaughn, the accountant, is now a half-mad bandit dude running around mostly naked, covered in blood and dirt in the Pandora desert. Ranting about blood feuds and such.

And Rhys is living his best fucking life, CEO of a successful company, his own facility with a skyscraper office, personal army, robots etc, and Zer0 as his main security guy/friend.

Like... traumatic events affect everyone differently I guess.
