[ad_1] A 50-year-old coach with a youth football league in Riverside County was arrested over the weekend after he allegedly hit a 14-year-old boy who was playing for the opposing team in the face, authorities announced Tuesday.   Officers with the Murrieta Police Department responded to Vista Murrieta High School, located at 28251 Clinton Keith Road, at around 5:40 p.m. on Sept. 23 after receiving calls about the incident at the recreational youth tackle football league game, police said in a news release.   During their investigation, officers determined the coach, identified as Eibylardo Funes, struck the 14-year-old, who was identified in an Instagram post by his mother as Harlem Edwards.   “The victim sustained an injury to his eye and exhibited symptoms of a concussion,” Murrieta police said.   Authorities added that the incident occurred after an altercation between the two teams — the Perris Panthers and the Murrieta Broncos — along with the coaches and parents.  Neenah Kaowili, the teen’s mother, said that Funes, a coach for the Murrieta Broncos, punched her son in the face, knocking him unconscious for two minutes. She said her son suffered a seizure as he regained consciousness.   “Why is this person a Coach, why is he allowed to be in the presence of children if this is what he is capable of!” Kaowili wrote on her Instagram post.   The teen’s mother also said her son was taken to the emergency room and suffered “physical and mental injuries.”   Police arrested the 50-year-old coach for child abuse with possible great bodily injury and battery. He was released after posting bail of $35,000.   Funes was also suspended from his position as coach, the president of the Murrieta Broncos told the Los Angeles Times.   The investigation into the incident is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact Murrieta Police Officer Meyer at 951-461-6882.  Close Modal Suggest a Correction Suggest a Correction

He was found dto be in violation of SCJAAF Minimum Play League Policy but not sanctioned. As usual, MJAAF League President - Kyle Jackson, allows 'Merc" to slide and in effect, continues to condone his unprofessional and inciteful behavior. Moreover, read the full article/press release by clicking on the link; Mercadal, claims to have feared for his life after being accused of ordering a former player and his nephew - age 10 and 12 - to be violently hit not in accordance with fair play, league rules or human decency, much less California State Criminal Law. Kenneth Dickson announced his resignation as Area 3 trustee at a Wednesday, Sept. 22, meeting. The next day, the Murrieta Valley Unified School District board unanimously voted to fill his position with a provisional appointment, a news release states.
Area 3 comprises the area east of the 215 Freeway, which includes Antelope Hills, Rail Ranch and Alta Murrieta elementary schools, as well as Vista Murrieta High School.
The provisional trustee’s term will expire in November 2022, the district said. The appointee could then run in the election to serve the rest of the term through November 2024.
Dickson, who took office in 1998, served as a trustee for 24 years. He will retire Nov. 21.

“Dickson’s contribution and service to the Murrieta community has been steadfast and his expertise will be greatly missed,” Board President Linda Lunn said in the release. “We wish him well in his retirement and relocation to the east coast.”
Superintendent Patrick Kelley said Dickson’s “kindness, wisdom, and love for the school district has been a foundational part of the success for MVUSD over many years.”
The district is accepting applications for his replacement until noon on Oct. 12. Qualified candidates must be a California registered voter who lives within the Trustee Area 3 boundaries and at least 18 years old. Applicants cannot be a Murrieta Valley district employee or disqualified by the constitution or state laws from holding civil office.

GRAB-N-GO STUDENT MEALS
Tumblr media
Here’s where you can find free meals for children during this week’s school closures
Many school districts in San Diego County will provide free sack meals to any child during the upcoming coronavirus school closures that are starting Monday.
Generally, schools are providing meals to children 18 and younger, no questions asked.
Many schools say the only requirement is that the children who are receiving the meal are present.
Meals will generally be served grab-n-go style to avoid people congregating. Students are asked to eat the meals off-site.
For many districts with only one lunchtime drop-off window, they will provide a packed lunch plus a breakfast for the next day.
