I think what makes this version of Face Miz work is because He’s a lot more like out of character Mike Mizanin.

My best example to explain this is a comparison between Miz’s out of character interviews and the WMXL media interview w/punk post tag champ victory.

In the out of character interview Miz asks if the interviewer wants the Miz’s answer or Mike’s answer. When they request Mike’s answer he spends the next 10 ish minutes complimenting, praising, and putting over everyone except himself. And in every other out of character interview I’ve seen of him, he always always lifts up everyone around him. Such as the spontaneous interview in 2018 where he was asked about CM Punks UFC return and just said approximately that “the man’s going after his dream, and that he wouldn’t shit on someone chasing their dream and that he knows Punks working hard for it and wishes him well.” He’s essentially the consummate professional.

Now compare that to the in character Miz interview post WM . In that interview, in character, he fully puts over Gunther as the man who finally made the IC title mean something with the only reference to himself being that it was something he had always wanted for the belt. Not a single gloat about his own IC reigns, hell he didn’t even explicitly mention them. It’s almost exactly the same as his out of character mindset with the added character Miz mannerisms and I think it just works so well.
