#Wukong's a lot like Mk in the sense that he'd destroy himself first before he purposefully destroyed anyone else bGKAWMFE
Note
Hello, regarding a question you answered. I remembered that in the series, Macaque mentions: The hero and the warrior. Macaque was obviously the warrior and Wukong the hero. Mk is the hero of this story and Mei is the warrior. So BOOOMM!!!🤯🤯🤯🤯 The same story can be repeated, if Mk follows exactly in Sun's footsteps. Remembering that it's obvious that Mk would choose Wukong (just like Wukong chose the monk over Macaque), this story of two best friends is likely to end up fighting at the end. Red Son is our only hope. XD
That is a cool take! Not my speed tho I disagree bgaskdl;fmawoef /lh
I've mentioned lots that Macaque's little analogy of the hero and the warrior doesn't really work because Mk and Mei are not Sun Wukong and the Six Eared Macaque.
As much as Mk tries to mirror Sun Wukong he is a very different person and makes different decisions. And Mei is just... absolutely nothing like Macaque.
From a surface level I guess you could say that's kind of true, a completely valid conclusion to come to. personally I view Mei as a Protector rather than a warrior. She defends Mk rather than fights for him, so its an entirely different thing in my mind /gen /lh
Macaque keeps trying to fit Mk and Mei into the boxes he's designed for Sun Wukong and himself in his head, and they keep proving him wrong again and again. Like his "oh you're high on hero glory and leaving your friends behind" when Mk was actually "feeling inadequate and like he had to deal with everything on his own because he wasn't good enough for his friends" and with Mei he assumes "she feels like she's in Mk's shadow and wants glory for being a hero too" when in reality Mei literally just wants "Mk to be happy and hang out a little more even if she knows hero stuff is really important to him and she respects that"
So like, even if Mk followed exactly in Wukong's footsteps, I don't think it would end them fighting. Because Mei and Mk are a different kind of friend than Wukong and Macaque were.
We see Mei in the show letting Mk do his own thing while also going out of her way to spend time with him. They fight a little bit in the Race episode because he's encroaching on her thing, but they talk it out and he apologizes and she knows people do dumb stuff sometimes and forgives him because she knows he's trying his best at heart and sometimes messes up.
Macaque and Wukong did not have that dynamic. Wukong is the kind of person who doesn't really think to really apologize or someone who just avoids thinking about fights and runs away from confrontation alltogether, cutting themselves off from others to not hurt them again instead of trying to heal that mistake and relationship and asking for forgiveness, and Macaque's the type of person to become bitter over a small argument and let those things build up without communicating or make huge negative assumptions about the people he fights with.
Mei reads people really well and doesn't jump to conclusions or try to talk louder like Macaque does, she listens, watches and tries to understand. Mk is a good person at heart, even if he gets caught up in his own head sometimes. Like in Minor Scale we see he is capable of caring and listening to another person, he just holds himself to too high a standard sometimes, and honestly, I think Mei knows and understands that and thats what makes her so patient with him.
She sure ain't afraid to tell him off when he does hurt her feelings or is being stupid tho *looks at the race episode* BGAJKEFMOF
As for choosing Wukong over Mei... it’s certainly possible. Monkey King means a lot to Mk. So does Mei though. And honestly, I don’t think she’d ever put him in the position to have to chose between them if she could help it. And honestly, neither would Monkey King. As much as he likes having Mk around and having him rely on him and support him, if there was a moment when Mk halted between picking his friends and picking his mentor Wukong is the kind of person to leave so he doesn’t have to choose.
anyway this just descended into me rambling, at this point, but that’s my take on things.
Mk wants to be a good Hero and Mei is his best friend, but rather than a shadow she’s his support and his Protector when he can’t pick himself back up or protect himself, she’s there when he needs her and waits with an outstretched hand until he’s ready to take it. even sometimes when she doesn’t have to
