i think it’s kinda funny how you don’t have some sort of online handle except your urls, so i can only ever address you as like dftsam. anyway i saw a take that said cas “learned” to feel unloved from dean, from the way dean treated him basically - an example they gave was dean looking away when cas said I love you as he was dying in s12 - and it seemed there were a lot of people agreeing with it. i’m not one of them, but if you were interested (only if you’d wanna talk about it, I’d get it if you didn’t) I’d love to get you thoughts on this idea?

So I read this at like 1-2 AM lying in bed and I was like this:

I find it so fucking funny when people start in on this shit, because Dean girls and Cas girls can do this to each other all day long. “Dean made Cas feel unloved” “Cas made Dean feel unloved”. You can build a framework for either (BOTH) by cherrypicking scenes to suit a narrative. Like. I can easily say that Cas repeatedly sent a message, regardless of his intentions, that Dean’s feelings don’t mean jack shit to him. I prefer to take things with humor and just understand where Cas’s issues are coming from (just like Dean—who makes his best effort to understand Cas; just like Cas makes his best effort to understand Dean) rather than get mad and demonize him so I can be angsty about Dean always feeling "unloved"… but the guy… look—making no effort to explain why he is like this at this moment (because Cas apologism is absolutely not the point of this ask) Cas is known to do the following:

Control the means of communication. You will pretty much never see Dean ghost Cas. Even when Dean was forced to kick him out, he checked up on him to make sure he was okay. But Cas will knowingly and intentionally ghost Dean’s prayers and calls for days and weeks at a time on repeat through their ENTIRE RELATIONSHIP. Dean has expressed that this upsets him more than once, but Cas continues to do it. Every once in a while he’ll throw in a half-assed apology sure—but it doesn’t mean anything. He’s going to do the thing he’s apologizing for again as soon as he’s decided he doesn’t want to face Dean’s questions or doesn’t want him involved yet again. Which means 1) he isn't actually sorry 2) how it makes Dean feel is not important to him or else he'd stop doing it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Keep secrets about bad things going on CONSTANTLY. Over and over and over and over… then Dean is still the one who ends up apologizing for getting mad about it. Rinse, repeat.

(Often) Refuse to be a team player in an effort to keep Sam and Dean out of harms way over the things he has personally decided are too dangerous for them, without ever letting them have a say, because he has unilaterally decided they are too tiny and soft and he needs to fall on a sword when no one asked him to and no one WANTS HIM TO. A lot of people want to turn this into bemoaning Castiel's constant unappreciated sacrifices, but this is so unbelievably shortsighted of a take. He is attempting to relate to Dean, a person who believes he is poison and that loving him gets people killed, by attempting to fucking martyr himself over and over and OVER. Dean doesn't WANT it, and it isn't NECESSARY 99% of the time if Cas would just WORK AS A TEAM.

Urges Dean to co-parent children who he feels he has personal obligations to twice.

Who does that remind you of? Because I know who it reminds me of, but people don’t want to read that meta—or about how Cas traded out his car for a truck (who else did that?), or about how your last words before a sacrifice can haunt a person and rip them open in ways you never intended. Of course Cas isn’t that guy… but I bet my ass Dean sure as hell sees the shades of him.. I do think it is an intentional decision to frame Cas in the late seasons after another person who also made Dean feel very unloved and unwanted—not in the big things like big grand sacrifices—but in the small things—the day to day things that slowly strangle a relationship to death—like making unilateral decisions for everyone and not answering the goddamn phone. (Edit here: I do NOT mean that Cas is intentionally being framed as CRUEL and EVIL. I mean that he is intentionally being paralleled with this person. Dean and Sam are also paralleled with that person in different ways at various points and it doesn't mean any of them are evil irredeemable villains. They just have some obvious hangups and the way this particular one for Cas ends up manifesting is probably pretty difficult for Dean and probably makes him think of how that other person behaved and how it made him feel).

Dean didn’t react right when Cas said I love you in season 12? Well. That’s debatable. But going on the offensive first before the defensive: Cas only wants to say this on his deathbed when Dean has no chance to respond.

Dean, on the other hand, has expressed his care for Cas MULTIPLE TIMES. He didn't say the words, "I love you" (he doesn't even say that to SAM) but he said "We're family" "You're the closest thing I have to family—you're like a brother to me" and "I need you" and "I'm not leaving without you" and "Being with you today is the most I've laughed in years" and "I'd rather have you, cursed or not" and "It's a gift. You keep those. Let's work as a team. We're better together."

And what does Cas do after every single one of these expressions of Dean's love?

He L E A V E S!!!!

He fucking leaves, and Cas girls want to talk about Dean making a face? And cry that Dean makes Cas feel unloved? Forgive me if that makes me fucking CACKLE at the AUDACITY.

I think one thing people tend to do, is they frame everything as if Cas is oblivious to Dean loving him, but Dean has to know or SHOULD know how Cas feels about him. This is why we get rancid takes like "DeAn nEedS tO pUll hIS hEaD oUt of HiS asS". Oh shut up. Castiel canonically can SENSE DEAN'S LONGING. If Dean's head is up his ass, Castiel's is shoved so fucking far up his sphincter it's coming out of his mouth.

Yet still—Dean recognizes, in season 11, that Cas is struggling—that Cas feels down on himself and unloved (and I DO NOT think Cas BLAMES Dean for that at all—it takes a lot of willful ignorance about everything going on with his biological family to come to that conclusion) and Dean tries to FIX IT. He once again reiterates to Cas how much he cares about him—that he's family. He has NO IDEA that the words intended to make Cas feel better are going to send him down one of the most deranged spirals of unhinged decision-making ever (the Kelly shenanigans are WILD). I actually have a slightly different take on this, from the typical " it sent him off the deep end because he got 'brother-zoned'". I think it sent him off the deep end because it was the final *nail in the coffin in what Cas saw as a reversal of their relationship—where he isn't the guy who protects everyone anymore with his grace and his grand wings... that's Dean now, and Dean is saying that Cas, like Sam, is under his protection... and Castiel absolutely could not STAND that. He didn't need his romantic affections to be returned. What he wanted, more than anything—what he saw (in a rough draft of the script) when Jack showed him paradise, was Dean thanking him, and his powers returned to their former glory. Because Cas has unilaterally decided Dean's feelings, he chooses to love him like a saint loves Jesus, laying down his life, instead of being in a partnership, because he doesn't want to be someone Dean protects—not even in a partnership where they protect each other. He wants to be the sole protector.

All of that to say: Cas didn't learn how to feel unloved from Dean. TEXTUALLY. It is ON THE TIN. Saying that is literally the EXACT OPPOSITE of what Cas SAYS about Dean. He says he cared about the whole world because of DEAN. He cared because Dean's love was so captivatingly beautiful and inspiring and transcendent that it changed who Cas was inside to the core, and he fell fucking head over heels. "You changed me".

Hey everyone, feel free to ignore this if you're not interested in my headcanons! I just wanted to post some little doodles about personal headcanons to help peeps understand doodles and writing from now on (and especially with requesting a number and characters so y'all have a feel of what characters I'm down for writing for ^^)!

Bug fam bug fam-

So basically, this is the fam I headcanon. Five dads co-parenting the six kids: Hunter the Hobo Dad, Mato The Dad, Grimm the Goth Dad, Tiso the Dumbass Dad and Quirrel the Nerd Dad. Tiso and Quirrel are dating.

The kids consist of: Hollow, Hornet, Bubble(Broken Vessel), Ghost, Grimmy(Grimmchild) and Odessa (yes, shes my own character fight me, also I’m gonna call her Bugdessa throughout because she’s actually an au version of my oc who’s original everything I have not shown-)

Every child has something that occupies them, comfort hobbies because of what they've been through. Hornet knits, Hollow paints (thanks to uncle Sheo), Bubble gardens, And Ghost, Grimmy and Bugdessa? They fight stuff/cause absolute chaos. They're not exactly the uh... safest of siblings-

I might as well add it here the age range of the kids? Personally I very much see Hornet as a teenager because she comes across - at least to me - as a teen that’s been trying so hard to grow up. Bubble is like an early teen - just turned that sort of thing. Ghost and Bugdessa are the same age and whilst Grimmy is the youngest - he and Bugdessa are basically twins.

I wanna talk about Hollow

Let me say, I don’t like Hollow being paired with Radiance at all. I see nothing but an abuser and a victim here and seeing them actually being nicely paired together makes me so uncomfortable, so simply don’t talk to me about them ever. No I don’t think you’re a bad person if you like it, simply keep it in your lane and out of mine. I find memes of them bickering funny but that’s the extent of it. Personally I don’t like any Hollow pairing (except oc x canon you guys are doing amazing mwah) - I see them as heavily aroace and that’s not even because they’re severely traumatised. I think they value platonic relationships at a much higher value than romantic and they simply don’t care for romance.

Hollow takes up painting as their main hobby thanks to uncle Sheo - they find it a much… healthier way to express their trauma and recovery than other methods they might’ve gained. They’re always encouraged to stop and think for a while about this pattern of their own thoughts and encouraged to not be the Hollow Knight PK and WL demanded of them. They can have thoughts. They can have feelings. It’s ok.

Hollow rarely gets phantom pains in their missing arm now. Having had it missing thanks to infection for so long - they’ve gotten to the timeframe where they’re used to it not being there anymore. What they’re not used to is normal life - they’ve never had a normal life. Simply existing for no higher purpose, living just to live, being under a normal persons roof and home. It’s all new and strange to them. What they also get most is nightmares. Lots of them. Given that the majority of their trauma is well - mentally and emotionally. They are often seen going back to painting when they get them - with these paintings often being hard to figure out and ‘messy’. Sheo encourages them to open up about these when they’re comfortable enough to - as talking it out and working through the trauma helps them more than bottling it up like they have always been doing.

Tiso, Cloth, Hive Knight, Tamer and Myla? Siblings. They do not care they are siblings now. Hurt Myla and you will be punted-

Actually I wanna develop this point more. These guys give off such strong sib energy to me it’s not even funny - like Tamer and Tiso were made to be the most chaotic adoptive siblings ever. Not rivalling Grimmy and Bugdessa. I like to think that through each other they help being out the best in each other, especially through rough times. Tamer being probably the one with the least issues because her Infection definetly damaged her psyche enough to where the true impact has been lost on her, being the most encouraging and optimistic one. Myla is strong, yes, but strong people sometimes just don’t wanna be fighters and it’s something I see for some reason. Anyway - she prefers to use her strength to dig for crystals, to move things out of the way, anything that isn’t fighting. So yeah the others are definetly the more fighty siblings and like to protect others - Cloth is the assigned pillow. I just think they’d be amazing siblings!!

Actually I’m explaining more about this sib dynamic. Especially when it comes to their all contrasting qualities and bringing it out with each other. It’s no secret the most emotionally open of the group would be Hive Knight and Myla - Cloth has a tendency to hide her unhappy emotions behind bravado whilst Tamer has always been a character not ashamed of her emotions but pretty ready to like - ignore help towards her in a sort of ‘if i die i die’ type of way? And Tiso is Tiso. I say this - because I think it’s really nice when characters help each other open up!! And I think Myla wanting to learn more about everyone’s interests and Hive Knight being a general sweetheart - would help the other three be a bit more… conscious of their well-being? The three are the ones most likely to throw their life on the line, with no regard for self preservation (well, Cloth has her moments to hiding for safety and her story is a lot more sad and I think her getting to realise that her friend wouldn’t want her to die just to join her is important). And also! One thing I always find myself thinking about with this group of adoptive siblings is like - they have a certain brand. They’re not fully chaotic together - but you can tell they’re a group that teases and messes with one another and then can immediatly go into being siblings that care in a moments notice. They all like participating in physical activity and exploring (Hive Knight would more have to be persuaded that it’ll be ok if he indulges every once in a while) so being this group of sibs that explores the place - finding whatever shiny rock there is, or brawl one can spar in, or people they can interact with as a unit - idk it’s nice. I think them as a unit compliments and contrasts each other enough to find a balance between all their strengths and flaws - and can help bring out the best in each other just like them with the rest of their relationships with other characters. I think them as a sib unit is important to them realising their own worth in a family dynamic as a sibling. I think they’re important :).

Yes that means paired with the ant fam I gave Tiso he’s got like 7 siblings what of it- I like large found fam what can I say?

More about the bug fam dads and kids:

The family has basically developed various forms of seperation anxiety. The siblings can hardly be apart without one other family member near them, the others can get anxious alone and Hollow especially can't really deal with being in a closed space alone. They all share a house or space to sleep in because of this seperation anxiety. Hunter is the only one who hasn't developed this and so is more than ok to head out alone, but it doesn't mean he doesn't miss the fam.

Vessels are always referred to with they/them pronouns, unless stated otherwise from the vessel themselves. Hollow uses he/him/they/them (Though they/them is the most used). Ghost is strictly they/them. Bubble is strictly they/them. Bugdessa uses she/her/they/them (though she/her is the most used).

Tiso has self esteem issues. Quirrel has spans of depressive thoughts and low motivation. Grimm sometimes blanks out and shuts off considering there's some shenanigans with the Nightmare Heart and no longer being a vessel. Hunter tries to stop being attatched to thing which just end up going nowhere. Mato tends to keeps his issues to himself and end up shoving all his feelings down. And the kids? Th-they have a lot of issues too-

Idk where else to put this but I’ve been developing nuerodivergent headcanons for characters now oop-

ADHD Tiso and Autistic Markoth my beloved. Listen i projected a lot of my own problems onto the moth i might as well just give him it.

Again - no idea where else to put this but it’s about all the bugs that aren’t from Hallownest

so yknow how in DND there’s a common language that everyone knows and each race has their own native language? Yeah so Hallownest used primarily the common language - since it was made to be a hub to many other bugs. Every foreigner to Hallownest is bilingual!

That does indeed include Tiso, Cloth, Xero, Cornifer, Iselda ect! They’re all at least bilingual! Ironically enough Quirrel is not fully multilingual yet - but he has picked up key phrases during his travels. He never sat in one place too long to fully learn the language.

Xero and Tiso are related. I go further into this at the bottom because oop! Ocs!

Monomon? More like Monomum-

Expanding on Monomum she and the other Dreamers are alive! Ghost didn't kill them but went straight to the pantheons instead. Monomon did wake up very confused-

Monomon, Herrah and Lurien stayed where they were for quite a while adjusting like Quirrel to being part of an old kingdom in this new environment. They’ve essentially, like Quirrel and survivors of Hallownest, jumped forward in time and are all fish out of water (bugs out of soil? heh that was bad) so they all are just like “tf”.

Herrah is like... the only mum they have. No I do not count the White Lady. I do not like her-

Markoth is Seer's son. Seer's partner died whilst Markoth was still a caterpillar and remained single ever since. Markoth adores his mother, but before he left the tribe for good (after losing his husband and most of the tribe to the infection) he and Seer argued badly. Their last words to each other was an argument - before after years of regret and wanting to reconcile with each other - they finally got to apologise to one another.

I’ll put it here since I change topics later

Characters that were put in any form of stasis don’t just suddenly age when they get out of it. They’re just… the same but they can age again. That would mean a lot more bugs in Hallownest like Sly and stuff would just suddenly get super old and die when the PK inflicted stasis is gone by the end of the game. I don’t think anyone understands the timeframe because it’s not clear in the slightest so it’s probably just better to think of general age brackets rather than try and figure out specific ages because headaches go brrrr.

Old Stag has been since the very peak of Hallownest, which to me is a long time ago. The fall of Hallownest to me was a gradual decline before it skyrocketed downwards. Old Stag is somehow still alive and I would hope he’s still alive by the time the game ends because again - when you leave a stasis your body doesn’t just catch up it just stops being frozen. He obviously entered his area of stasis, within Hallownest, as an old Stag. Poor guy.

Can I talk about Cloth x Bretta? I'm gonna ramble about Cloth x Bretta-

I just think they're a really compatible couple! Cloth is a lot of things Bretta likes: an honest, loyal, caring fighter who means well. I think Cloth would love Bretta's writing and craftsmanship with plushies and help Cloth with her confidence because Bretta would believe in her because she's Cloth! And Cloth helps Bretta realise that a partner isn't about a knight in shining armour - but someone who loves you for you. I just think they're neat and would make a really nice couple :)

So like.. Mato and Oro right-

They had a big argument. Massive one. It ended up with a fight that they both regret and split the family apart. Sheo tried his best to reconcile his brothers together to no avail and ended up being on his own. Mato is stubborn and doesn't want to apologise until he hears Oro apologise first and recognised his faults whilst Oro refuses to apologise out of guilt and previous anxieties catching up with him. It's only after Mato develops fam that he ends up being encouraged to make the trip to Oro and find some sort of reconciliation - which leads to the two having an awkward but sincere talk after years of not seeing each other. The three brothers end up making up in the end it just takes a while to get there

Oro hardcore judges Mato for living with how many other bugs-

Ah PK-

I always believed PK and WL cared. It's not excuse for the shit they've done though. They distanced themselves a lot from trying to get attached to Hollow and only WL was successful. They’re both such shitty people but they’re interesting. Their care goes as far as a god can care - the kingdom care more about keeping their legacy and kingdom than the citizens even if they did still care about the bugs around them. They can care and still make the most fucked decisions out of deluding themselves into thinking this is, in fact, the right way to go. I think if the circumstances were different they’d have just stayed as they were and would’ve raised kids alright, but that wasn’t ever going to happen in the Hollow Knight universe because yknow, Radiance kinda pissed about the whole dying and being forgotten thing.

They hold regrets but neither took any measures or true self relfection to atone for that. PK hide away and died. WL holed herself up as a very bare minimum effort - she isn’t really trying. She still encourages Ghost to simply replace Hollow and shittalks Grimmy and the Grimm Troupe as if she isn’t as bad as the Nightmare Heart. She cares about Hornet but I don’t believe they were ever close. Hornet didn’t want to be close to the Pale Beings especially when she learned about her true heritage nature - I think she would hold resentment for that. WL and PK might’ve cared about Hornet growing up to be strong and healthy - but that doesn’t mean Hornet has to care for them either. Her heart belongs to her mother Herrah, who sacrificed herself to try and protect a world for her daughter. That action alone makes up for more love than the words WL can offer. Besides, wasn’t there concept stuff of Hornet being raised hand in hand with the Hive or something like that? I think Vespa made a more surrogate mother than WL.

PK has clearly done so much shit and I don’t think I need to mention it. I just like it acknowledged WL is no angel either. I enjoy exploring them if they never made this decision to commit infanticide, but also exploring them as the gods who make morally fucked choices like they are clearly portrayed as. I don’t like them - not by a long shot. It’s why I barely draw or write them, but I still find them interesting af. ALSO WAIT HANG ON ADDING HERE WL IS CLEARLY EMOTIONALLY MANIPULATIVE. Why would such an immediately motherly life figure be nasty or exude power to get what she wants when she can just appeal to emotions instead. Of course she’s gonna say all the words people want to hear because that’s what they do. Sure I still think she holds regrets but she’s so nice is because well of course she would be - she can appeal and twist people’s emotions to view her in a better light. That’s why she’s not scrutinised as much in this fandom/jkjkjk.

I mean god PK must’ve cared about the lives of the citizens of Hallownest if he put his foot down to Soul Master’s fucked mindset. He’d rather sacrifice his own creations (his kids in this case) than the lives of the bugs. And it’s fucked up, yet I can see how a god can see that as both noble and a just plan. Did either of them like it? Probably not. They thought they had to make this fucked decision and instead of taking a retrospective the more it kept failing - they kept going because they’re nasty like that. All this being said - I still personally don’t like them. I can appreciate them as complex characters and dislike them all the same. They just go against my personal morality and yknow what that’s ok. If you’re fans of them - fantastic! I’m glad you can like them, just like the Radiance and others like them. Hell yeah. Just not for me personally :)

Xero was a loyal knight (well High Guard in my headcanons) and only really had a problem with him not really doing anything about the poor population. Xero's first priority as a knight was always the people. However when Infection started and Hollow was made that's when Xero was beginning to start to doubt PK, and even tried to reason with him (but was promtply told to stfu) This is why Xero got infected - he was higher in ranks and strong but not Five Knights to be noticed. PK didn't see that Xero was infected, vision only telling him a knight would 'betray' him and branded Xero a traitor.

I wanna also add. I wholeheartedly believe that if Xero knew about the void experiments - yes he would turn his nail against them without the infections influence. But how could Xero know? Afterall - they were damned experiments locked under the palace…

Also I just had a thought. Do moths seem to have an inherent way to detect a void being? Idk, I just thought about how Markoth was like - the only one outside of the bugs that knew about the vessel making to see that Ghost was ‘Darkness come to consume him’. Do moths, being direct descendants and worshippers of Radiance, have an inherit inbuilt knowledge of the darkness lying within void beings - yet they would still interact but just know what they could be capable of? It doesn’t really mean anything and I could be wrong but - I guess it would make a lil sense they could detect the dreamless void of darkness yknow… being created by the dream light god and all…

Oh lord I’m thinking about the void-

So like ok, the void is loud. Like it’s very loud - it’s vicious and lethal. The Void itself is not a quiet thing and in game that’s shown. Void beings can speak, or at the very least have a voice for noises - but vessels don’t. Why? Because all of Pale Kings creations - including the White Palace void constructs - were made to be silent - to have no voice. But other naturally spawning void beings? They at the very least have a voice - like the Collector! The Void has a bit of a hive mind, at the very least, the siblings don’t attack each other and seem to know that they’re siblings and not a threat. So why do they attack Ghost? Easy! Ghost got away, they don’t recognise Ghost until they unite the void completely under themselves.

Why do I talk about void having a voice? Well theres a lot of corpses that have void influence on them and the lighthouse guardian mentions the ‘sea calling them’ - and whilst the other dead might be just exposure to unconcentrated void - the guardian had been communicated with the void. So... I like to imagine that the deep void whispers, and hisses, wether it’s the dead siblings calling out for them to be freed or the void in general hissing out of pure volatileness.

I also mention it because it links to a headcanon of mine that the vessels can kind of speak. What I mean is, is that once the void has been truly united they can share a voice (which is entirely from the void itself, like a Void Voice-), that sounds gargled and horrifying and loud, that echoes from every alive vessel. This isn’t used often as most vessels are comfortable communicating via sign, or handwriting, or body language, but sometimes they shout with this shared voice. For example, Ghost could use the voice to scream “FUCK” and it’d be echoed by Bubble, Hollow and Bugdessa.

I use this headcanon mostly for memes but sometimes I write in a voice line as the vessels finding ways to try and communicate their feelings and thoughts and figuring out themselves.

Also also!! Focus attacks!! On vessels!! It’s different for each vessel! Hollow’s focus is the spherical aura around them that pops into smaller ones that deals damage, Ghost’s focus heals them, Bubbles focus is a sort of call for reinforcements to aid them and Bugdessa’s focus is void tendrils springing from the ground.

(Yes that means I’ll have to figure out for other vessels too 🤔)

Unrelated but I think void siblings as shades can still return to their shells if the shell itself is not beyond repair. Or the holes that would make the shade leak out have been plugged up. Eg: Bubble! Essentially their head can’t heal from being cracked open so they’ll always have to rely of Lifeblood to fill up that hole so their shade can stay in the shell. Void siblings do die to become a Shade but then it’s whether or not that Shade can return to its shell. Some are too damaged, some might be waiting for a chance to be ok once returning, and some probably don’t even think there’s a way out - so why try.

Tiso and Grimm tend to argue and bicker and tease each other, but never in the realms of actually upsetting the other. They're pretty contrasting characters but they do care a lot about each other. Only they're allowed to tease each other.

Ghosts can now interact with other alive creatures that do not wield the dream nail. Their essence is given a physical form until the weilder stops the activation or one ghost gets severely injured and scatters back into essence and into the dream nail. During this ability the dream nail can't be used for anything else, but can still allow the wielder to see ghosts unaffected by the physical form.

Ghosts given physical form cannot be too far from the bug wielding the dream nail or they will scatter into essence. They're also: cold to the touch, no heartbeat, don't need to eat(any food simply disintegrates since there's no nutrients needed). However they can become exhausted and require sleep and rest. They can still interact with the world and it's inhabitants once more.

I’ve rewritten this so many times but LAST TIME I SWEAR

Xero is Tiso’s dad. He has an older sister named Enelda (she’s great). Their parents are shitheads, and the colony society also isn’t the,, best. This one low-key obsesses over having the strongest warriors from everyone’s families and the Queen and her daughters are the strongest in the colony. Xero and Tiso are very importantly not native to Hallownest.

A serial cheater who dated Xero for a short while before Xero found out and broke up with her and moved away to Hallownest to just escape it all - and Ophelia was just “Lmao bye” before whoops! Those are kids! Four of them. She abandoned them very shortly at Enelda (who had never trusted Ophelia from the start)

Whilst Xero went to marry Markoth (and then both tragically DIE rip) Tiso and his siblings grew up back home under their aunt and, unfortunately, their grandparents that perpetuate the toxic society. So much so Tiso has a huge inferiority complex and went to Hallownest to face the Collosseum to show he’s a great warrior too. We know how that goes.

Xero and Tiso only learn they’re father and son post-game and whilst Xero is already a ghost by then he still absolutely goes to being his dad. Xero is a simple man,, he wished he knew he had kids earlier to be a proper dad to them.

In other aus, Xero gets to raise his quad and Marmu (After marrying Markoth) but this is for Base HK. We have tragedies here.

Also yeah Ghost Markoth and Xero adopt Marmu in Base HK.

DMX Discography Overview

It's Dark and Hell is Hot(1998): DMX's distinctive growl, aggression, and arresting flow is fully formed and at its highest potency here on It's Dark and Hell Is Hot. It's Dark and Hell is Hot is, for the most part, a dark menacing and street-orientated album. Some tracks even lean toward a horror-core vibe, "X is Coming" being the bleakest and most unsettling of the bunch. Still, there are deeply emotive tracks like Let Me Fly, Look Through My Eyes, and Convo, where DMX gets introspective and lets us in on his struggles internally and morally/spiritually. There are also hits here, like the hard but catchy "Ruff Ryders Anthem" and the chill summer jam "How's It Going Down." The album's production is handled by PK and Dame Grease, with the album's calling card produced by Swizz Beatz. On a broader level, DMX was a presence in the rap game filled some of the space that had been vacant since Tupac Shakur was murdered, passionate, aggressive, and visceral only specifically representative of the east coast. He also was the answer to the shiny suit luxury rap era Puffy was dominating with in 1997. The album is pure classic and certainly a top-tier album of 1998. Rating: 9.0/10

Flesh of my Flesh Blood of my Blood(1998): Flesh of My Flesh Blood of my Blood was released in late December of 1998 cemented DMX as the biggest rapper of that year and late 90s in general(Jay-Z notwithstanding). Aside from the Beastie Boys, the album had the highest first-week sales in a highly competitive year. As for the quality of this one, It's more of DMX's burst of rough and jagged rhymes. When he's not menacing(which is most of the time), he's as introspective and pain-stricken as he was on It's Dark, and Hell Is Hot. The apex of that would be "Slippin," an iconic song that is amongst the saddest tracks in hip-hop history as DMX open shares the trauma of his upbringing, being an addict and struggling to get out of it only to find its way back in it and everything that surrounds that in his past. It's really the fight in the song that makes the song his willingness not to quit and keep trying that makes the song "I got to get up, get back on my feet so I can tear sh*t up." What keeps the album from being the classic his debut was is that Swizz Beats takes the helm on most of the production here, which is hit or miss. DJ Shok, PK, and Dame Grease have a lot of the best beats here. They bring out that dark energy and tone that makes for X's best work. All in all, it's still a great project and amongst his best work. Rating: 8.0/10

...And Then There Was X(1999): ...And Then There Was X picks up were DMX previously left out brutal, pummeling bone-crushing violence come is to be expected. "One More Road to Cross" and "The Professional"(one of the albums hardest tracks) are early highlights. Then there's the heartfelt but mature writing of "Here We Go Again," one X's best tracks, and "More 2 a Song," the ladder of which speaks to DMX's avoidance when it comes to rapping about the flashy materialistic side of things. While this is DMX's third full length album, it sounds more like a full-fledged sophomore effort to It's Dark and Hell is Hot while Flesh of my Flesh' plays more as an extension, too, or a very good b-side to its predecessor. This album contains some of DMX most well-known hits it including his biggest "Party Up"(Up in Here), a high energy track produced by Swizz Beatz that finds DMX being peak DMX, the chorus is both funny and little corny, there's a good touch of humor in DMX's bars on the track that give it charm. Another well-known X track is "What these B*tches Want" ft Sisqo, a silly and misogynistic track that has its charm and humor but is a bit lacking as far as the chorus in my opinion. "What's My Name?" however, is a banger that's one of DMX's better singles and meant to be played at a high volume out of your car. ...And Then There Was X is another strong album from DMX, and its more consistent than Flesh of my Flesh' less visceral and hungry than It's Dark. 8.5/10

The Great Depression(2001): DMX's fourth straight #1 album finds him trying new things. There are the rap-rock efforts like Bloodline Efforts, and I'ma Bang which will always be hit or miss depending on the kind of music listener you are. To me, they're listenable but amongst the corniest of DMX records in his catalog. The worst is the silly/sad "She Was Da Bomb" where X writes a track about basically impregnating a woman and threatening to be a deadbeat. Yeah, the lows here are amongst the lowest of his career. Transversely, "Who We Be," a socially conscious record, is one of DMX's best tracks ever, and "We Right Here" has a great beat and is amongst the best on the album. Aside from the hits, you get the heartfelt "I'm Missing You" and the thoughtful "When I'm Nothing". There are also more R&B sounds here which I think is a nice change of pace. The Great Depression is solid; it's less aggressive and consistent than any of the three albums before it; some songs really work, and a few don't. I think it's worth listening to; there are essential DMX tracks here, but I wouldn't consider the LP quintessential as a whole. 7.5/10

Grand Champ(2003): DMX's fifth straight #1 album is even more boom or bust than The Great Depression is. Where The Great Depression had weird moments and tracks that didn't quite work. Here X doesn't sound quite as passionate as he does early in his career. In an interview he did on 106 n Park around the time of the album's release, he'd spoken about not making what he should off his music, and I wonder how much that put a damper on writing and recording for this album. When it comes to what's here, the menacing brutality and growl is here, but it isn't as consistently visceral as it was early on. At 24 tracks, it's also a long, over-bloated album but even shorting it; I don't think the bulk of the music here holds up through time. "Get it On the Floor," has a terrible chorus, and most tracks between 13-23 are forgettable. As for the best of what's here "Where the Hood At" Produced by Swizz is a classic DMX track it's hard and has a great beat and hook. "Dogs Out" Which features Kanye on production. Then you have "We're Back" ft Eve and Jadakiss, another highlight and features pretty good verses from all three, but I believe Jada had the best performance. The international version of the album features the track "X Gon Give It To Ya" another very good single from X. This is an interesting listen, and depending how die-hard an X fan you are you may still enjoy this. I think there are tracks worth salvaging, but it isn't an essential listen. 6.5/10

The Year of the Dog(2006):This is the point where the bottom really fell out on DMX's music. The highs here aren't amongst the highest of X's career, and the lows are certainly amongst the lowest—tons of generic and lackluster production, mediocre choruses. A weird rap/rock crossover. DMX's tenacity isn't as urgent or visceral, and a lot of what's here (tracks 2-10) sounds, sadly, like a caricature of himself(with "It's personal" as the exception). The best tracks on the album are sneak in at the end where you find songs like "Blown Away" and "Goodbye"; those are the most soul-bearing tracks on the album. As a whole, it's a below-average album that, aside from a few moments, The down turn reflected itself culturally and sells wise it was his first album not to go #1 and only to go gold, and by the mid 00s DMX wasn’t in most conversations when comes to being amongst the best . 4.0/10

Favorite Tracks: It’s Personal, Blown Away, Goodbye, Life Be My Song

Undisputed(2012): Undisputed was a well-intentioned, admirable comeback album for DMX. There are some solid moments here "Cold World" Speaks on what he perceives as the rap game getting weak. "I'm back" is one of the better tracks on the album. You can hear the pain coming through on "Have You Eva." I like "Y'all Don't Really Know" because it comes close to some of his early work. Still, it just isn't enough; there are quite a few missteps on this album, whether it'd be the awful "Sucker for Love" or "I Get Scared" X sounds weaker vocally, and the production is lacking. There's some charm to "I Don't Dance" with MGK but it's somewhat awkward and not among his strongest singles. It's better than Year Of The Dog but still far from the level of X's heyday. 5.5/10

Favorite Tracks: I‘m Back, Have You Eva, Ya’ll Don’t Really Know

DMX is an undeniable legend and quintessential to late 90s-early 00s hip-hop. His music and voice, and passion transcends its era and is easily felt now. His apex from 98-00' is highly recommended. Past that, it's a lot more hit and miss, but both the Great Depression and Grand Champ have some gems worth grabbing. Past that, it's even spottier but given X's internal struggles it was great we were even able to get those LPs. Fortunately, DMX seemed to be doing well and had finished an album before passing away, so I'm eager to hear what he'd been working on.
