Haven’t updated in a bit, Loretta showed up for real this time in the Haligtree, she’s pretty fun to fight (other than the part where I died with one hit left like 3 times). And the arena had another statue of Miquella and Malenia and... I dunno, I’ve heard some people say its Radagon? But I’m not sure.
Elphael has got to be one of the most beautiful locations, I love it... I do not love the revanants roaming around though, one of my least favorite enemies. I found Finlay’s ashes and can see why everyone ships her and Malenia, its really cute ;A; Now that’s devotion!! The flowers in the final part were beautiful too, and I once again found Millicent (after following a guide for her quest, because she goes to the most random locations with no indication...) and fought her sisters off after fighting an ulcerated tree spirit (why is it always ulcerated tree spirit?) And she had removed the needle and was letting herself rot, so of course, she died.....
Shortly after was Malenia herself, at the base of the tree, which looks like a giant Miquella (and you can see where his cocoon was probably removed from). Her voice is very attractive...
And then I spent the next three days stuck on her, people weren’t kidding about how hard she is, took forever just to see phase 2 the first time... Phase 2 is somehow even more gorgeous, the butterflies!! And well, I can’t say no to a beautiful, toned woman with broad shoulders and rotting skin and no eyes beating me up ❤️ She lived up to the hype! I refused to use summons or ash, because I’m way too stubborn, but I tried out rivers of blood and it was a game changer, got to phase 2 much more easily, and was eventually able to do it. Figuring out how to dodge the second time she uses scarlet aeonia is what did it I think? Turns out its best to just run behind her, trying to dodge it just got me one-shot every time... waterfowl wasn’t too bad AS LONG as 1. I saw it in time 2. I wasn’t point-blank. I could often dodge with no damage if those conditions were met, but well, point blank meant instant death (unless I could bleed her out of it). It was way harder to read in phase 2 because so many of her attacks start with her floating there, but she didn’t use it as much either. And the clone attack also wasn’t too bad AS LONG as I wasn’t point blank, its easy to read, and you just run backwards.
I was shaking so much when I beat her, I felt accomplished! She reminds me in some ways of Zero (DOD3), I mean a woman with a prosthetic arm and a parasitic flower in her that ends up being the hardest fight in the game? (Final Song still remains the hardest boss I’ve ever done though) Phase 2 even reminds me a bit how Zero is reborn from the Flower....
And returning the unalloyed gold needle gave me Miquella’s needle! Actually this is part of the reason why I really don’t think Mohg was being manipulated by Miq, he’s trying to avoid outer god influences, and Mohg is heavily aligned with the Formless Mother, an outer god, and the blood he’s offering to the cocoon likely has her influence. And look at how twisted his arm has become, I doubt that’s what he wants, doesn’t seem that useful in helping Malenia... I personally believe the darkest interpretation and like it the best as well. Fearsome his potential may be, but he was in a vulnerable state...
I had forgotten about that seal Morgott made, and went back and got down to the frenzy flame door, but I’m still waiting to open it... I’m planning on doing Fia’s ending, but I have the needle so I can at least see it... Didn’t realize the merchants had such a horrifying history, I can’t exactly blame them for bringing about the flame of frenzy...
Diallos’ quest had a heartbreaking ending... it’s like Ludwig all over again, so I just lied, let him die happy at least... and well, he did save at least one life, so that’s worth something... he’s inspired that young jar ;A;
Had enough seedbed curses to finish Dung Eater’s quest as well, I still wish they’d let you see what you do to him when you use them, I want to see!! Sounds incredibly painful, I must know... Got a mending rune from it too, so I can apparently choose to curse everyone for all eternity?? OKAY SURE. I love that this is an actual option they give you.
His Omen set had an interesting line about the “heart of an Omen without the body to match”...so Omen are thought to be inherently evil like that? Of course Morgott wanted to show otherwise, but Mohg really went okay fine then I’ll be exactly what everyone thinks an Omen is like
I also fed Gurranq the rest of the roots, he attacked me after one, but seemed regretful of it, something is going on here... he seems cursed... and he disappeared after it was all consumed, still hungering for death...
Sidequests out of the way I went off in the direction of the kiln of the first flame or whatever it is, and fought the fire giant, after Malenia that wasn’t bad at all, so long as I paid attention to where I stepped...I’m getting close to the end now I feel...
