before mm hits theaters:

I love the concept of Leo having a crush. It's something that ties him to humans.

In broad strokes, Mikey always is social, Donnie loves their tech, Raph has Casey and his vigilante thing, etc.

Leo generally has his brothers or his Honor Code. He only gets involved with humans for other's sake. He's perfectly fine (ish) with being in the sewers. Leo is the only one out of his brothers that would take it in stride.

But making him attracted to April? Giving him a reason to go up to the surface? Mwah. Chefs kiss. Good drama. Who doesn't love the stoic leader get all goofy and blushing around someone he likes? Who doesn't love the inherent conflict of love vs duty?

I know the Fandom Loves Leo + Usagi, even creating a Rise! Variant because it's fun. 03 had some fun with Usagi too. And some comics had Leo + Foot assassin bird mutant, which is delicious.

plus we can always mock or ignore it if it's bad. Like Leo + Karai from 2012.

Tl;Dr: Leo's Turn on the Awkward Teenage Crush can only be good for him.
