If you’ve got an Analogue Pocket or a MiSTer FPGA (field programmable gate array), and you love Tamagotchi, then you’re in for a treat. These are multiple video-game-system portable handle devices that allow customized programming.

Adam Gastineau, agg23 on GitHub has published a project that they’ve been working on for three months. The project takes the Tamagotchi P1 ROM and transports it onto the Analogue Pocket & MiSTer FPGA platforms. However this isn’t just your regular P1, there’s some special treats! There is savestates/sleep & wake feature, instant resume at core launch, turbo play up to 1,800x (which is ~30 minutes a second), and the ability to set custom backgrounds (love that!). Adam notes that building the core was way more fun than making it run on different platforms.
