Hey I saw your OC post and I just think your OCs are Very Cool 🥺 can you give some more details about them? Throw some crumbs to the masses? (If not that's a-okay I just wanted you to know I think they're Neat™)
i cannot believe you asked,. than k you so much... this is the nicest thing anyone has ever asked me on tumblr dot com. i will pay you back with an answer so boring that you will regret asking. i am sorry
so basically there’s a powerful country called Kittsiri that unexpectedly invades the neighboring country of Andrie. It’s a bloodbath. Then they invade Kosmech, also on the border of Kittsiri. The story follows the Virslandic Liberation Front (placeholder name; just realized typing this up that it sounds like that BNHA terrorist group) as they 1. Attempt to stop the armies from going on to take the continent. 2. Convince the other states to help them. 3. ultimately take back the kittsiri-occupied Andrie and Kosmech (and whichever other territories may be invaded over the course of the story).
Okay, I’ll spare you the rest of the fictional history lesson. And also the map, which is in front of me. On to the characters! Sebastian Hartley was made an aimless teenage refugee when this all started (seriously a lot of people died). He joins a small band of people that want to burn down a Kittsiri military encampment. They succeed, but the group falls apart not long after, and so Sebastian decides to hunt down the soldier that killed his family. He finds him and pushes him off a bridge into a freezing river... only to feel immediate regret. He jumps in, pulls him out, now they’re freezing to death on the bank. Enter Alexei Lenkov, a Kosmechi national, who watched the whole thing, and invites them to his log cabin. He asks about the attempted murder and when Sebastian explains, Alexei asks why he bothered saving him, he didn’t think he would ever be able to forgive someone like that. Sebastian says he doesn’t forgive him, but that the murder of one man won’t do anything. He’s decided to do something that actually matters. Alexei decides to stick around him and they start a paramilitary resistance.
Fast forward five years, Sebastian and Alexei are leading the joint Andriet-Kosmechi revolution using guerilla tactics. They’re also lovers, but that’s not important. All of that previous stuff was backstory!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don’t have the Actual Plot on a timeline yet. It’s an ensemble cast story about the war: the civilians affected, the revolutionaries, the elite bystanders who watched foreign cities burn, etc. There are many more characters, but I don’t have good sheets for them yet. Also, I tend to develop characters’ motivations, possible arcs, roles, and general vibe in my head before I actually name them. So. A lot of them don’t have names. Or appearances.
Sebastian has a really big heart. If you asked him what he’d be doing if he wasn’t a revolutionary, he’d say botany. He likes plants and he likes people. But he’s not talkative... think of him as a cat that likes to be in your general vicinity.
Alexei goes anywhere Sebastian does. He believes in what they’re doing, though, and he’s good at it. He makes an excellent diplomat and public speaker. He says things to make people like him, but that doesn’t mean he’s lying. He smiles when he’s mad, laughs at bad jokes, and shakes hands with people he dislikes. Not a liar. He just has goals and he needs to accomplish them.
Anyway, the story’s themes boiled down are: found family, morals, and anti-capitalism, if you actually read this you’re a star
thank you so so so so much for asking
