To celebrate surviving the Tumblr NSFW Ban, let’s go back to the beginning and have some gratuitous Yandere!Paulie

It had started out as a normal day-waking up, brushing his teeth and heading into work, but when he stepped through the doors, the atmosphere felt…off, but he couldn’t put his finger on it. He greeted Luigi and Sarah before heading to the meeting room, where Sam and Paulie were already seated.

“Tommy, you made it!” Paulie said jovially as Sam faintly smiled. “I wouldn’t miss this for the world.” he joked, although one could hear a hint of weariness in his tone. He took his usual spot beside Paulie and drew him into conversation as Sam went back to his crossword puzzle.

“Today’s a big day, Tom. I don’t want to spoil the surprise, but I will anyway. You and I are going on our own assignment. Sammy got entrusted with a top secret one, so he’s going by himself.” Sam glanced over with a small frown and raised a brow, but before he could say anything, Salieri and Frank walked through the door and took their usual positions.

“Glad to see a full party. Feels like I’m doin’ something right. Cutting to the chase, we have two targets to tackle. Sam, I already briefed you, so you are free to head on out. As for you two, a federal agent has evidence that could shut this operation down, so we need to..ahh ‘convince’ him to change his mind. He is currently staying at a hotel in Oakwood and naturally is surrounded by secret service personel, so it’s up to your discretion on how to get it done, but you have until 9 tonight because he’ll be leaving New Heaven around that time with the evidence.”

Tommy was jotting down a few notes as Paulie gazed intently at Tommy, eyes mapping out his side profile before slowly moving downward, a faint smirk on his face. “Yes sir.” he drawled and stood up as Tommy did the same and left the room. After buckling in, Tommy took off down the road, radio at a soft volume . “So how are we going to do this Paulie?”

Plan made, Tommy parked a few blocks away from the hotel and made sure his gun was loaded before starting to climb up the fire escape. Once both were on the roof, they crouched behind a few a/c vents and made their way to the roof of the hotel, quietly opening the fire escape door and sneaking down the back staircase.

After some sleuthing, they figured out where the agent was currently and managed to corner him in his hotel room with two muzzles pointed at him and after threatening his life, walked from the hotel with a bundle of papers in a folder. They drove back to Salieri’s,expertly avoiding the cop cars chasing them, and laid the folder on the table.

After they were dismissed, Paulie and Tom were leaned up against the back wall of the restaurant, pinkies linked together. “You did good out there,Tommy. Y’know, I was worried when you first joined, but you’ve adapted well.” Tommy flushed slightly at the praise and moved closer. “Yeah?” Paulie nodded and moved him to a more secluded spot and cupped his cheek. “There is still so much you aren’t aware of Tommy. Me and Sam, we keep the worst bits from you because this life only ends in death. You are still so naïve and kind, always willing to see the good in everyone.”

Tommy’s eyes drooped as he leaned into Paulie’s touch and let out an absentminded hum. “I don’t need protection,Paulie, but I appreciate it nonetheless.” Apparently that struck a nerve because Paulie’s grip suddenly grew tighter and gripped his chin to turn his face. “Don’t you EVER say that agin, capiche? This is not a game and I really don’t want you to see the worst part of it. This is not a glorified life and you can’t save everyone…”

Tommy wanted to ask, but knew now wasn’t the best time, so he took off Paulie’s hat and ran his fingers through his hair. “I know Paulie, I know.”
