#nsr #nsr au #no straight roads #no straight roads au #Music Of The Sea au #my au #HEAR ME OUT #this one follows this mermaid story I've had for years. like in terms of the lore and stuff #there are freshwater mermaids. saltwater mermaids. and sirens #freshwater mermaids range from being as small as a goldfish to being as big as the traditional human-sized mermaid #while saltwater mermaids come in one size and one size only #that size is HOLY MOTHER FUCK THIS THING IS LONGER THAN LIKE 15 LARGE SHIPS COMBINED #they are EXTREMELY big and so they only live way out in deep ocean waters because if they get too close to the shore they get stuck #sirens are the only creature on the planet that are bigger than mermaids. they're actually far more terrifying than you would first believe #they're also the only creature on the planet that preys on saltwater mermaids. They're far less human and while many freshwater mermaids #are social and like to live in groups #and ALL saltwater mermaids MUST be with their family. seriously it's in their nature and if they get separate from their pod they become #VERY upset and often times cause tsunamis and other terrifying sea-related disasters due to their rampages #sirens hardly interact with their own kind. they're more animal like than mermaids. only really meet up to reproduce and sometimes the #parents will stick together to raise the children. familial sirens are rare as hell but they're not impossible #and just. what if au where the nsr gang are saltwater mermaids #but not all of them #and this takes place where the nsr people who aren't mermaids are just like they are in canon #I keep thinking of Zuke being a mermaid and he ends up separated from mayday and west #and then Neon and his family who are maybe like. marine biologists (this is actually something that happens in my story) and they end up #finding Zuke and assisting him in reuniting with his siblings.
