Some of my favourite facts about the one and only Soap Mactavish

Reboot ver with a lil bit of og ver facts that I think are still canon to 2022 Soap (some hc too)

that he tried to enroll multiple times in the SAS starting at age 16 and failed every time (dedication, man)

that he was recognized for his natural skills by Price during his evaluation and Cap immediately took him under his wing to train him personally (Price was like "sweet, new son")

that he passed selection with the highest possible marks in all 3 categories of the course SECONDS behind Gaz (he's salty about that for sure -it actually shows in his og journal - man's an overachiever. Gaz also brags about it when he needs to humble him)

that he was the youngest to pass SAS selection in British army HISTORY (that's his retort whenever Gaz brags about his scores I'm making that a fact)

downside about being the youngest candidate is that he is called the 'perpetual FNG' (you know he has annoying little brother energy so maybe this more fitting than one would think)

that during his first mission where he joined the bravo team, Price saved him from falling to his death during the team's exfil. he felt indebted to Price ever since (I feel like because he was young he felt the need to prove himself a lot so he's naturally hard on himself -og journal shows this too- he probably still feels bad about this mission just cause of one thing)

that he received a gallantry medal, the Victoria cross, and the conspicuous gallantry cross early in his career for an operation

said operation where his team was surrounded by AQ fighters when his heavy machine gun malfunction (I'm assuming his patrol had little to no ammo atp) so the man deassembles THE WHOLE GUN and then REASSEMBLES it so it fired 150 single shots where he had to recock the gun every round (this is totally why he's not only a demo expert but a sniper)

then he proceeds to be all humble about it and goes "oh any of my comrades would do the same thing" (okay mactavish but could any of your comrades do that so quick? be that accurate with shots? BE MORE PROUD OF YOURSELF)

that he almost faced disciplinary action for PUNCHING an MO in the face and LOCKING HIM in HIS OWN VEHICLE (this is so funny to me I need to know the whole story behind this. definitely shows Soap has a bit of a hot temper and a tad impulsive, but I like to think that's mellowed out over the years since that was back in 2016)

also that the whole incident was so embarrassing for the officer that brass decided to not charge him (he just got his ass handed to him by a young solider who was probably in his early 20s at the time so valid ig. also do you think Price had a role to play in convincing the higher ups not to take action while being an exasperated dad? I think so. Soap got the scolding of his life by him)

the fact that the only visible tattoo he has is of the SAS logo on his forearm for everyone to see (given that he was obsessed with getting into the SAS he must've been so happy to actually pass selection he immediately got this tattoo this has to be true)

og soap had a tattoo of a revolver on the back of his neck and one isn't visible on reboot soap but I'd like to think he has one too somewhere (maybe shoulder? Or back? Or thigh?)

that he has a journal and is an artist <3 (I want this shown somehow in the next game or make a reboot journal come on Activision)

that he hates dogs (og soap got rabies, I'd like to think something similar happened to reboot soap where Price is the only one that knows and he begs him not to tell anyone cause he's lowkey - ok maybe highkey- embarrassed)

that he has a Mohawk (that's all that needs to be said)
